What do you hope to achieve by this merger?
I’d more want to know what wiill happen with SoD…
You can be 100% sure Era won’t be merging with Anniversary.
What might happen is your Anniversary characters can migrate to Era - and that’s the interesting question.
Pretty sure Season of Discovery will keep going, otherwise they would not have added so much new stuff, e.g., new zone(s), raid(s) etc. And at least from my retail guild, quite many are playing either SoD or HC Anniversary.
Merging anniversary and Era sounds like not going to happen.
Anniversary is progressing to TBC (not the HC server unfortunately), the most yopu can hope for is Anniversary characters given the option of a transfer to the Era servers before TBC launches - of course stripping the Anniversary characters of Dual spec, Insta mail and othe changes in the process, same as happened after SoD.
SoD will get their own forever realms.

I hope they allow character transfers to era when TBC hits. Of course removing anniversary stuff such as dual spec etc.

more people farming naxx mindlessly
There’s a small chance we’ll see char transfer / char copy from anniversary to era for those, who do not want to progress to further expansions.
I’ll doubt there’ll be outright “mergers” or complete realm copies to era since they already announced, that the non hardcore anniversary realms will go on to TBC.
