So i am open world roamer and not big fan of instanced content. I have never in my life opened weekly chest and didnât even know they existed untill i read some threads on forum people complaining about loot they got from it.
Opening reward chest every week and complaining about itâs content sounds like fun to me. So i suggest that Blizzard would add to the game another weekly chest that rewards for open world/solo/casual content. Practically for everything else than mythics, raids and pvp.
It could have reward system similar to the Shadowlands new weekly box, giving more choice more you do the content. It could have sections for example:
world bosses done (1, 3, 5 - this would encourage people do to run old world bosses too when new ones are put in)
treasures looted (3, 5, 10)
pet battles won (not sure what amounts would be sufficient here)
items crafted (5, 10, 25 - depending what items we are talking about ofc)
resources gathered (hmmm)
rares killed (2,4,7)
and such things.
Rewards would be naturally on apropriate item level for the content done, so no one would burn their raiding pants because this chest.
This chest would be separate from the other chest and people could loot them both if they qualify and wish to do so.
What would you add as âtasks to doâ on this chest?
yes cater to even more types of players because iâm sure that wasnât one of the reasons that ruined the game in the first place back in the second half of WotLK and then going on from cataclysm. great idea
Because getting stronger in an RPG is fun. Itâs a big pillar of the genre.
And the fact that you say âliterally donât do anything with itâ, doesnât mean thatâs a fact. People doing content means they use their gear.
Well thatâs where we disagree.
Getting stronger doesnât need validating by more difficult content. Overpowering content can be a lot of fun and very satisfying in its own right.
I think the shadowlands chest is an absolute disaster and your idea is basically the same - more chores in pursuit of an extrinsic award. Personally, if the content itself isnât worth doing for the reward it provides, I donât want to bother with it. I havenât yet done my M+ weekly. Iâll probably run some dungeons over the weekend, just for the fun of it, but I really dislike the weekly chest, and thus I am kinda required to dislike this idea.
HOWEVER, I like the idea of making the open world a wothy addition to the game. Not the time you waste while questing. I really dislike how you have these raid bosses in the world that just give you currencies and resources. Itâs a waste of a boss if you ask me.
So what you are saying is that once you defeated the current mythic mode content of the game you should not be getting any more gear at all? Because there are no more âincreasingly difficultâ fights available, so by your logic, there is zero reason to award any gear for it.
Did i understand that correctly?
OT:
My suggestion for an overworld task would be to report botters from the large english realms farming mats+rares on low-pop realms. Arguably the most important overworld task available. But Activision would never implement that because if you subtract the botters from the current players, the numbers of their quarterly would not look so âsolidâ anymore.
If you defeated Mythic Nâzoth, you most likely grinded mythic for months and at best you have 1-2 items from Nâzoth himself. Yes at that point you do not need a single upgrade.
a) because itâs nice to get the opportunity to have better gear, even if you donât need it and
b) because of the surprise of never knowing whatâs in the chest. Itâs like the monthly subscription boxes you can buy for Harry Potter, gaming, make-up, beer, stationery or almost anything you could want. Itâs not so much whatâs in them as the opening and discovering whatâs in them.
I would say⌠maybe 5 ilvl above WQ or emissary or something like that. So. less than m+, but better than what you normally get.
And the reason here⌠well⌠if you did all that in the open world, you would be rewarded with gear that will make it a little bit easier to do that next week. If you want really powerfull gear, when itâs m+ or raids⌠I think it sounds pretty fair and fun for everybody.
And remember. No m+ players og raiders would have to do this, because the gear would be pretty bad compared to what they normally use
