Pets dont keep aggro.
Pets take damage from almost all AoE , especially in delves.
I actually struggle to keep alive on some world content and I am 260 iLvL.
Prey Ambush kill me almost every time because pets dont keep/take aggro or dies.
Ive been playing BM for a long time and it have never been this bad.
i dont find it so bad. yes the pet is weak and die often but normally im able to maintain it alive.
The problem is the unbalance damage imho. If Bestial wrath is available i kill everyone. if is on cooldown i have just to wait since the damage is very low.
Boooooooooooooooooring.
Every class has this problem . dmg is fine But once you use the big cooldowns everything melts faster
It’s because now every class has like 3-4 abilities and one big powerfull CD
yeah. i came back after 4 months and it was everything so… strange.
did a t9 lastnight found useing valeria tank helped with the 20% crit ability and the chance to oneshot ability
but yep pets are not scaling like in tww
Yeah, I just started leveling my old hunter which I didn’t really play properly since DF and it is reeeeeeeeally weird feeling.
Not having multishot (I’m not even talking about barrage) to tag mobs feels weird.
Pet survivability feels bad even during leveling.
Pet aggro feels like it’s not working properly.
I’m okay with 30 sec burst windows instead of sustained damage, it seems like most of classes are working that way now. But I totally can’t say these changes to pet healing and aggro are healthy for the class. “The pet is weak” is the last thing you want to hear as BM, historically the spec driven by its pet.
Still will level and check how it feels with proper talents and gear tho. If nothing changes, this will probably the worst state I saw BM in.
It’s super sad that the the only class that is supposed to tame wild beasts and use it as it’s own specific spec now only really can use one specific animal as the others all melt when you look at them….
Okay so I bumped my Hunter to 90 to double check.
It’s…complicated. Yes, it really feels that pet is not as reliable and tanky as it once was. Sadly. Some things really kick hard – AoE aggro is really lacking and it’s noticeable, and pet healing is not what it used to be.
Though, I did couple of T8 delves with tank Valeera and two Nightmare preys for test in 220-ish ilvl and it was LEAGUES above both DH specs and WW I was playing recently. For what it worth, pet family still matters – my scalehide with 50% damage reduction special + ferocity leech survives waaaaaaaay better than my main cunning birb (and I know that clefthooves been there for ages but I don’t like em). And for your own survivability there’s DR talent that gives 2 charges of Exhil (which means two additional charges of bumping your pet to 100%). I didn’t face any problems with ambushes, and I only had to use health potion in delve once. And also as I guessed earlier right talents and better gear makes life much easier. So if you have problems with ambushes in 260 gear, you’re doing something fundamentally wrong.
Not that I’m completely happy with the state of things but in a world where almost all classes got gutted one way or another, BM still feels dead easy. Can’t complain anymore lol.
Most problems I have in delves is that the pets take way more damage from AoE attacks than they used to and in several fight they die all the time even if I keep up the HoT on them.
I think i’m out tbh. For all of MID i’ve been waiting, expecting BM to get fixed. It’s disgusting, nothing has been done. I gain ilvl (slowly, because bm hunter is a cancer to play) but i don’t feel any stronger. It’s been my main class+spec since the beginning of the game, it has never been this bad.
Overall I’m leaning negative in my view of midnight because of how they butchered this spec. It desperately needs massive buffs, it’s a chore to play.
i think this season is really easy, i got to 3,4 rio without try harding that much and with next patch it will be even easier
not sure what exactly is your problem playing bm and getting your personal goals for the season done whatever are they might be not as easy as playing s tier classes or specs but doable
with bonus roll system you can get bis gear out of dungeons and you are set
shadowlands s1 was the worst state of bm nothing comes close it

Pets are solid in M+, but randomly get one shotted in delves.
What build are you guys using for soloing?
I always make sure to NOT take Guardian’s Hide in the left bottom talent tree, like with Demo locks Soul Link, I feel it makes my pet flop over (I’m convinced the transfer % is super off).
I run Wilderness Medicine and Emergency Salve instead, have mend pet on a keybind and never have problems with pet survival.
For aggro I always pull with a kill command followed by Barbed shot for initial aoe aggro grabbing. On my solo build I have also macro’ed pet attack with Cobra Shot, for easy micro managing if a mob is not taking the aggro, and then ofc MD if the mob is stubborn about it.
For prey (and delve) specifically I run Dark Ranger, as I find that to be way more damage on demand, a nice burst every 30 seconds. Yeah the pets can’t aggro the ambush, but you can Survival of the Fittest, Binding shot, disengage and pop your Beastial wrath into Wailing Arrow + Black arrow, Intimidation or trap and create distance and do more pewpew.
The end boss of the prey they CAN aggro. Cast the Mend pet, Primal rage, pull with Kill Command, Beastial wrath, Wailing arrow, Black arrow - everything else that you got while castsing Mend pet on CD - Win.
To make sure that I am absolutely right, I just now went on my ilvl 180 hunter alt and did a hard prey doing the above, and had no issue at all with surviving, and pet (ferocity specced rodent with Mortal Wounds) never got to 50% health.
Bountiful Delve 8 (Shadow Enclave) with level 53 healer Valeera - now ilvl 195: Completed after 20 minutes solo. Died once to the shadow blob because I didn’t pay attention, pet died a few times, but only because I didn’t care to take allerias heals.
I’m not at all saying that I am better, I am at best an average player. I am just saying to not blindly follow cookie cutter talents when it comes to soloing, and to use your utility. Play smart and Hunter can absolutely be a blast to solo on.
This has to be it! I specced out of Guardian’s Hide today and the crazy damage spikes from nemesis packs in delves are gone.
I did this to and man what a difference. I chose the talet that added 20% to the pet HoT and they now survive a whole lot better. Still an issue with aggro, but its now manageble.
