Well, that kind of explains it then. I mean, yes, the GCD is 2.5 sec, it feels very long compared to WoW’s. But it simply is a different combat style, you still get to press buttons often, just differently, and you have to level up to see it.
Exactly!
It just can be a bit of a slog to get to 30 and above.
But it does get better.
Huh? PvP = “fighting someone”.
No idea what reality you came from, but 90s were when games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft were made (and started whole franchises and even game genres), you know, games for real men, none of them were casual and despite having “easy” difficulty it still required some skill to beat them, even in single player / campaign mode. Nowadays games come out with extensive tutorials and guide your every move, and make sure you don’t get hurt. That applies to multiplayer aswell. Businesses quickly figured out that 90% of ‘gamers’ are casuals and made pleasing them their #1 priority. Real gamers? Nobody cares, for now at least we still have PvP left (ok, and some high m+/raiding but those are easy too once you get needed knowledge and muscle memory), but I’m scared to think about state of gaming 10-20 years in future. Capitalism doing it’s thing.
Games are being played for fun, however fun can be different - either fun from beating challenging obstacles, or, as you put it, fun from “relaxation”. This ‘relaxation’ is not much different from watching TV, but casuals like it when game gives them feeling it’s They who accomplish something (even if in reality they did nothing special).
Without playing game (i.e. WoW PvP) seriously one can never reach anything. But yes, casuals don’t even need it.
I just like it 3 matches and I got enough points for a staff and a robe, eventough i lost 2 matches.
I hate the eternal grind in pvp in wow where i only get conquest when my team win.
I just like Ff14 Pvp better. It suit my playstyle
But “FF14 PvP” is not FF14, it’s different game.
forgot to mention that guy who was trying to “help” said his criticism after the boss was dead
not when we were fighting it
and some good news got new dragoon to lvl 35 from haukke with 3 dps commendations
and that green armor infantry shirt looks like a regular shirt but with “tattoos”
any who has a disciple of war alt or main should try and get it for transmog haha
A large proportion of the Ff14 player base are FF/FF11 fans and have ever played WoW, not MMO locusts.
It feels like a battleground to me. I dont feel it’s another game /shrug
Guess we just differ there
Its not a different game.
You still have quite a few of your normal spells and they work practically the same. You also get access to a couple extra pvp spells.
Is wow pvp a different game because you get pvp talents?
There is nothing wrong with people liking something you don’t or don’t think you will. Same as you liking something they don’t.
Noone is forcing you to like it.
I’m always in WM ON so no, but when I did M+/raids it felt awkward that they just stopped working.
But its still the same game. Just like 14 and 14 pvp.
When PvP talents stop working I don’t feel it to be 100% same game, because I suddenly have to play a bit differently (ok, maybe not so important for DH, but i.e. hunter would lose sniper shot and mage loses gpyro and that changes everything).
And when I do world quest when I command some NPC with their own set of skills that feels like absolutely different game (or minigame), yes.
I never felt different content in game felt like a different game because of talent changes. You could say the same about playing different classes. The game is still wow.
You can get a dyeable version of it on the market board 9usually pretty expensive) that can be worn on all classes.
You don’t really need pvp gear though. You could go in naked and it would not matter. Everything is completely equalised, no gear or level differences whatsoever. I think you are the first person I’ve ever seen who liked the pvp in FFXIV lol Glad you enjoy it though I guess.
to QUEUE new world actually
i know about that one
but for my bard and dragoon when they were still arc and lnc i did the dungeon and lucky me it dropped
for both of them and noone else needed
ofc i will be going for that blue drg set
edens promise dps queues at 80 are 5 minutes would be a good example if everything else had that sort of a dps queue like sanctum raid finders
and anything you queue in final fantasy is always fresh from the start no half runs
Not sure about that, I think I’ve joined some runs in progress, but I believe there is a setting whether you want to or not.
I think there are different draws and drawbacks for different people.
Take me for instance. I’m more of a lore nerd and role-player, to whom endgame content is putting together cool transmogs/glamours and having casual fun with friends.
To someone else it’s all about the PvP, raids, or perhaps it’s something as basic as an aesthetic preference in terms of graphics. Heavens knows that it took me at least a week to get out of my “WoW cartoonish” mindset and adapt to a game looking cartoonish, but with a more JRPG vibe to it.
Anyway. I’ll round off by saying that the FF community made me feel so comfortable being a newbie, that I picked up healing again after several years. I basically gave up on that in WoW due to several consecutive experiences with player-rage and “KYS!” encouragements after a wipe. Thus the FF community itself is a draw to me as well, not exclusively the game itself.
we had one alliance tank in a raid who dc and was kicked and replaced
you probably got one of those groups
while true you dont get threats and harassments(regardless of what content they should be bannable) you get their version of “git gud” as advice after the boss is dead
while i would the other guy pays his sub and i pay mine if he has issues with me and others occasionally wiping because mistakes happen he should keep it to himself
