I think everybody’s forgotten about it by now, but in Shadowlands, Night Fae players were placed in a pod upon dying.
If that pod was not quickly destroyed, the defeated player was straight up resurrected.
On top of that, the pod’s “health bar” did not appear on top of its model, so it wasn’t that obvious and it was annoying to target.
The most toxic players would play with a Prot Paladin because Prot Paladins can use Bubble on an ally, and they could therefore make the pod immune to damage until the player was resurrected. The pod could also be healed, and that means a Miswteaver could use Life Cocoon on it for example.
i think that arena system before dampening in WoD, which after a ten or fifteen minutes (i dont remember exactly) gave like an enrage buff to a team to and one shoted the enemy. that which teams got the buff was decided by which team brought the other one to lowest hp in entire match. It was so stupid
Isn’t that the protection paladin ability that makes some kind of npc spawn that bubbles the ally and if you CC or kill the NPC, the shield is dropped. Its dumb but being able to heal the pod was way worse imo.
Probably the most unskilled comp in the history of WoW - Holy Fire sub RMP - Immortal fire mage having cocoons every 10 seconds (legendary) with the blink heal conduit that would also reset cocoons or some sht? Cauterize with night fae pot if everything goes bad just Ray of Hope the seed looool. Mage having 4 school with Shifting Power being nature school, also Shifting power would remove your lockouts hahaha. Mage doing same healing output as a healer.
Sub rogue oneshotting every stun dr while being immortal.
Holy priest never casting a spell every global lay on hands, chastise reset + no cd and no counterplay 200 yard range.
Ret oneshotting with every global. Blinding light divine toll not breaking.
WW oneshot through 90% damage reduction.
Convoke not that problematic since it’s a cast but Russian boosters running Prot paladin immunity convoke frost dk triple kill in 0,1s.
Necrolord warrior charge execute -80% hp.
Double outlaw best comp in the game.
DH being DH.
Hunter removing every dot and debuff with feigh death every 10 seconds very fun and interactive.
Mindgames oneshotting shamans with no counterplay.
I was a Resto Shaman main for what little SL I played (since Mistweaver was even worse in SL S1 than it is now, that’s when they introcued Eminensce because every game vs. Mistweaver was “force the trinket then kill it in a stun”), so I got myself the Resto legendary that increased Earth Shield healing by 150%.
Much to my surprise, the effect also worked when I switched to Elemental. I never actually played arenas as Elemental, so I don’t know if it was actually good, but I was absolutely immortal in duels in front of Orgrimmar. The self-healing with that Resto Legendary on Elemental (and Enhancement too, I guess) was absolutely crazy.
Night Fae was overall a cancer. Imagine adding Soulshape to Mage and Rogue. Chasing them forever not to let them restealth. On top of it even if you caught Mage and killed it you got Shadowy Dueled so the pod brought it back to life. Not to mention soulbinds, conduits and covenant spells were stupid.
Shadowlands was clearly peak BS, but I actually don’t mind.
I’d rather have Blizzard be experimental and add a lot of mechanics then get another round of pruning like Legion or Midnight.
WoD also had a lot of experimentation too.
“Gladiator” prot Warrior, Prismatic Crystal, stuff like that.
Its the aoe rogue garrote silence we currently have. Having a class able to stunlock you to death and also silence entire groups is the most annoying thing I have encountered personally.
