more likely its not the engine itself, more the servers which still seem to be running on bbc micros or possibly powered by an elderly hamster on a broken wheel
These people shouldn’t exist they deliver nothing but hate. 
I’m going to miss a large chunk of this event as I’ll be going away for work and I’m not bothered in the slightest.
People going on about lag have either very short memories or are new, pre patch or any another big event is generally laggy but should get better.
I made a druid alt just to see how the XP was in the hopes it might be like legion and the XP was boosted but alas no.
Just no interest in this at all I’m afraid 
A hair over 17 seconds for an instant cast spell from click to actually being a spell. Blizz screwed up big time with this. Whats worse they don’t even have the common courtesy to but out a single blue post or tweet. Absolute garbage. 10 minutes of maybe moving in a laggy zone then an hour of SWTOR is not how i saw my day going.
Stop being a Blizzard fan boy. The event is awful. Disconnects and lag, Boss not spawning or not giving loot, The quest not counting the boss kill. Blizzard failed horribly

I’m as cranky as you about this whole failure of an event.
But akshually: The servers have been upgraded in the past (its been a while again). They even sold some of those blade servers to fans of the game.
