What's your thoughts how Midnight is gonna be?

Ngl, I think I am the first time negative on this one, even tho there is a couple of months left.

  1. Instead of getting proper Beta-Testers, they decided to sell out their Beta, partially to people who are even too stupid to log in.
  2. Without buying the Epic-Edition, you can’t even give feedback on what’s bad. So you basically have to pay 90€ to HELP them to fix their game. That’s more than just a troll lamo

Just this 2 points are already a huge throwback in terms of quality we gonna end up with. That means, just due to their greed, we probably will have another 2-3 months (if not longer) after release fixing basic stuff that should have been fixed by now already. And there is a lot to fix.
Besides all the class bugs and issues, let’s just focus on the UI, something a competent person could fix within one day. The problem is that most Blizzard guys are not competent nor are they aware of some issues since they don’t play the game at all. And it’s very hard to fix an issue if you are not even aware of it.

Party frames. With or without addon, it’s in a bad state. It’s lacking A LOT of BASIC stuff which pretty much every addon did right.

  1. Prioritization
Means you can adjust buffs/debuff in the order you prefer. Let’s say you are a Rdruid and you have like 5-6 HoTs + buffs. Now you don’t want to play hide and seek on every single frame of a player and see what HoTs are out and which ones are missing. This is gonna kill your eyes and brain. The HoTs/buffs need to be in a specific order that fits the players playstyle.

  2. Black-/Whitelist
In order to remove cognitive load and make every visually more appealing, you, as a player, should decide what you want to see on your frames. Some stuff is important, some is not but takes away space that you need.

  3. Padding
Padding means the distance from one buff/debuff to another. Same goes for nameplates. I have no idea how you can come up with having Y-paddying but not X-padding and think you did a good job.

  4. Layers
Maybe not a big issue but might be a good example. The name of the player on the frame has the prio. Means you see it better than the health bar and there is no way to change that, with or without addon. Now you can make the name smaller or remove it but it’s a stupid workaround.

  5. Action on button-press or -release
Now I do believe it’s on press but I can not 100% confirm it. I personally think it’s also the better option but maybe some like it on -release and there is no option for that. This is a minor issue if at all.

  6. Health bar progress or bar animation
This is how your health bar behaves when your group member is getting hit. Sounds minor but is actually very important. I don’t think Blizzard even knows this kind of option exists.

  7. Visibility
I don’t know why but you can tune down the visibility of frames. But this makes no sense. The point of this option is to tune the general visibility down OUTSIDE of combat but increase IN COMBAT. This is simply not possible.

Ok, I am noticing I am already typing way too much but the list of issues goes on and on and on and on and on and on… it’s actually crazy. And that was like just a small portion from mainly one “addon”… then you have the WA-copy bs where I am wondering why can’t you have “progress texture”? Why is it only bars and icons? And if you have those bars already… why does it only go from left to right and not right to left? Or maybe the option is there but I just couldn’t find it? Idk…

Whoever thinks this UI in Midnight is gonna be much more beginner or casual friendly, you guys will get disappointed. I barely use any addons and I had more trouble setting up the UI in Midnight than in any other WoW expansions, while not even reaching 30% of QoL that I usually have.

I think Midnight is gonna be hot garbage

*unless they include 3-4 classic dungeons in the M+ pool, that could save it

There are stafftesters, the Beta is an opt in with no purchase necessary. Honestly, I keep saying to people expecting it to be some kind of live playground that it isn’t but nobody listens and keep whining that there are bugs in it or it goes down without any announcement, partially to people who aren’t reading what the Beta is about.

That’s funny, I would think you’re trolling because some parts of your post is feedback about what’s bad. You basically don’t have to pay 90€ to help Blizzard to fix their game, while it is guaranteed Beta Access through that way it is not necessary to receive Beta and you can also just buy the base game and give feedback when it hits live.

It’s going to have Legion tier class design with all the pruning and healers losing interrupts.

So, garbage.

That’s very optimistic non-sense.
You can sit for over an hour and even be able to make a group due to lack of people.
And all the issues going that could should have been fixed by now prove that there is CLEAR LACK of people.

Where do you see me expecting that? TWW beta had less issues on day one than Midnight after all this time. And even in few weeks or months it will remain the same, 100%.

I did not mention a single bug.

Trolling? I literally pointed out not even 5% of all the issues which the Devs could have fixed by simply copy-paste stuff from existing addons. Yet, you say I am trolling without a single argument based on facts.

This is just factually wrong. You do have to pay that money in order to test AND give feedback. Your entire “argument” is rooted in a POSSIBILITY that you MIGHT get beta access but you can see a clear lack of people on beta, which basically underlines everything I said, which also the reason why so many issues were not even reported in the first place.

And this is the most stupid thing to say. I literally said that because of that issue, we will go in for several months, after release, getting annoyed with poor quality.
Like… holy… you literally confirm what I say at that point without even understanding it.

I think it will be bad, because there is fundamentally many things wrong with the game, hence the low player count, hence the BG/SS long queues. Will I play midnight? Of course, I am addict, as many are.

Testers is different than fixers. People may report bugs, but it doesn’t mean it is fixable without breaking anything else or having to entirely rewrite it.

This is a layman’s perspective who hasn’t coded before. The API is governed by Blizzard which means the addons work from Blizzard code. Therefore the issues that the Devs could’ve fixed are derived from the code by Blizzard.

You’re trolling as your arguments aren’t based on facts, no.

This is incorrect, your argument is rooted that people have to pay for access to give feedback but players may opt in to gain access to Beta. If there are insufficient players, more beta opted in players will be invited. This is no different from previous Beta’s. Also, players may give feedback by watching streams/other soruces → post on forums. Like you did.

No, it is wishy-washy to expect all issues to be fixed and done with in only Beta. The game is a live-service at this point so they will continue with any and all patch fixes during live game. I do expect them to hit the critical ones though and get us a good story before launch.

Even now the game is at Patch 11.2.7 so it underlines my point. It doesn’t just end at 12.0 edition “Ah yes Beta fixed it all” Launch release. We’re literally at 7 “Mini-Patches” after the Second Content patch post-launch. Or do you want to sit forever at .0? xD

May as well push back release by another year, which unfortunately, nobody wants.

There’s generally a brief drop of player activity before new expansion launch which isn’t odd.

The party frames is OK. For a DD or tank.

For a healer? Its a boiling pot of rotten donkey excrement. To say it lightly.

On your long list you did not even put the most important aspects. Just the esthetical ones…

Point being. It’s up to them really. No party frames? Perfect!!! No healers. Not me atleast. I refuse to heal in that garbage UI. Simple as that.

Il DD or tank.

The entire UI issues that come up to my mind can be fixed by an average guy within one weekend. One single person. If it’s a skilled guy, it will not even take him one day.
You act like there is some magic behind it. It’s not. It’s not hard to fix nor do you need many people.

Now that’s some top-notch irony right there lmao

How about you name one argument that’s not a fact. Just one. I dare you.

Which is factually correct. Unless, you right now, present me a list of accounts that have beta access without paying. Can you? No, you can’t.
Besides that, it’s irrelevant if there MIGHT be a minority that has beta access without paying. Everyone who played beta knows there is a clear LACK of people.

What are you talking? It’s not an if. It’s an actual thing happening. You can literally say over one hour on beta without being able to get a group. If you don’t see the lack of people, you are need to see a doctor.
It’s crazy how someone can deny such obvious facts lmao… This is also why nothing being fixed really. If more people were aware of that, the forum would be full with posts about it.

That’s pure bs. It absolutely is. TWW had A LOT people playing without the requirement of paying. No matter the time of the day, not once did I sit for 1 hour not being able to get a full group for a dungeon.
Which is kinda obvious that if you gatekeep the beta access behind a pay-wall, you naturally WILL have less people… like… how does something that basic even need an explanation?

First of all, we all know nobody gives a flying f about EU forums.
Second, it’s general discussion, something devs care even less about.
Third, the only chance of providing feedback that Blizzard MAYBE will receive AND read, is on the beta forum which is behind a pay-wall of 90€
You denying this FACT, is actually crazy. You are being delusional on purpose defending Blizzard with zero arguments based on facts. At least try better.

Edit: Right now turned on a random stream of a healer and guy is saying there is a Discord where people can set a time to play together because there is such huge lack of people. THIS was not required in TWW beta lmao…

See? Another strawman on your side. You really can’t make ONE argument based on facts, can you?
Not once did I say I expect ALL issues to be fixed on beta. I am talking about VERY BASIC stuff, that can be fixed by ONE guy in ONE day.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING I said? lmao…

They are already at the current state too. But these roles do not really interact with the frames anyway.

Ye… that’s kinda true… like there is so much of BASIC stuff missing, it’s crazy… but also not surprising because it simply showcases one more time how Devs don’t play their own game at all.

Ye I tried to mention something everyone, also non healer players, can understand but the more I was writing, the more I noticed how many issues there actually are and couldn’t even decide with what to start and where to end lol…

Ye that’s the problem tho… and I don’t think they even understand that right now.
Even tho some streamers speak out on this, they don’t even mention like 70% of the problems with the frames.

It’s kinda ironic how the goal was to make it “Casual/new player friendly” but so far is the biggest garbage in WoW history where even the best of the best players have issues with that and don’t wanna deal with it.

dont have access to beta so cant say . i can comment on it when i actually get to play midnight ~

but from healers perspective it does look hard and that is the role i mostly play . all big streamers have said something along the line that the damage is very much same like you have in tww but the toolkit that healers were using is pruned and probably not enough to heal people through such damage .

This is kinda not a big deal. Right now the highest key you can do is 15s and it can be done with every healer, which kinda does not mean much on beta. In TWW beta I could heal 18s with caster build on MW, but live is a different story.
So this kind of things is always a subject to change and usually relatively easy to fix. It’s very easy to increase the CD on a cast or the cast time, even tho right now you can actually interrupt most groups without using CCs.

You can kinda tell which healers will receive a change, like Holy Pala is 100% not going live like this (will get “nerfed”), MW will receive changes etc… like this kind of stuff you can kinda predict and in this terms it looks okish.
But the issues with the UI, that’s a much bigger issue than people realize right now. Everyone has own visual requirements when it comes to healing and Devs who don’t play their own game can not comprehend this even remotely. It will be 100% a rough release.

After housing , it will be Zzzzzzz, a filler like TWW. I cant even place dragonflight since it was an odd filler as well, but I dont think dragonflight was connected to retail, just as WOD.

Personally I think WOD was better than DF.

/console ActionButtonUseKeyDown1

Change the 1 to a 0 for the other way around.

As far as I know this only works for hotbar spells. We don’t heal like that.

Once you set the command by typing it in chat it just changes how the spell/ability is cast - on key up/down.

You could try it I guess?

It seems to work like that by default but as I said, it’s one of the least issues because I don’t think it matters to most people. The thought process was to have most spells on button-press, while some (like defensives) on button-release (because you might wanna cancel your own action). This combination is not possible with the new UI.

Open beta is soon from what i recall.

Players have been beta testers since pre vanilla in 2004, so what you on about?

Didn’t see anything about it.

The key word is “proper”. Not people who don’t even understand how to log in.
