Totally cataclysm. It changed the world noticeable and the horde stopped being stagnant and green guilting.
WoLK
I also have love and hate for all other expansions in someway.
Cata / Wod. People may hate them. But dungeons and raids were awesome ( not you dragon soul until Deathwing spine ), pvp was just fun and both had a enough stuff to do to fill time , but you still had time to do useless stuff with friends.
MoP, Cata, legion
wrath, mop and legion, they where somewhat different in a way, not perfect but still fun.
Wrath still stands out for me, itâs the time when the game felt at its best - story, character progression, professions, no mandatory dailies. Every expansion that came after that had things that I enjoyed and things i disliked more or less. However, the game felt like evolving up until MoP (loved class design then) and since WoD it seems it has taken a turn backwards.
WoD is my absolutely worst expansion and Bfa until 8.2 when i got flying it feels enjoyable again.
Things like these is why i really liked legion.
The dungeons, the raids, the atmosphere, you could also do some crazy stuff with the right leggos, which i already criticized in a previous post, but they had undoubtedly really cool effects, the artifacts skills etc, bfa just doesnât match that.
Also iâm a sucker for big numbers, which doesnât seem to be the general agreement on this forum, but fine.
Also, court of stars was great, best looking dungeon ever, and seat was also very pleasing aesthetically, but most of the legion dungeon were very good.
You donât realize how much i loved ww monk during legion in m+, getting big pulls using storm earth and fire and dealing absolutely mental damage with spinning crane kick was one of the best feelings in the game, in general though legion classes were better than bfa.
Wrath of the Lich King will forever be the best expansion, if you have actually played every expansions as I have.
It had something for everyone to do regardless if you were a heroic raider or a casual.
- You could do 25 daily quests every day to farm gold (but this burnt me out eventually, to this day Iâm reminded of being burnt out when I look at a daily quest).
- Do the weekly raid Vault of Archavon and do the weekly âX boss must die!â quest for Emblems. Emblems was used as an easy catch-up system, if you made the effort.
- Do achievements, such as the Naxxramas ones which rewarded players with titles such as âthe Undyingâ and âthe Immortalâ. WotLK was also the last time people could get the Scarab Lord title and mount, which is worth mentioning.
- Leveling alts was made much less timeconsuming due to heirlooms being introduced, people could have more maxlevel alts than before.
- The only negative thing about the expansion is the introduction of Dungeon Finder. It eventually made the game as cross-realm based as it is today without any realm communties.
Legion
I mean I have been playing since Warcraft and then WoW for all these years, so to finally fight Sargeras is like a dream come true. I doubt they can exceed this level of hype in future expansions, but I would love to be happily surprised.
From best to worst:
- MoP
- TBC
- Wrath
- Cata
- Legion
- WoD/BFA, equally as bad.
Iâm a person that doesnât give a damn about lore, WQs, mounts or pets. I just want the actual gameplay to be good. (Raids, Dungeons, Arenas, BGs, gearing your character and class design).
MoP.
Mostly because of the good class design and great wpvp (timeless Isle)
