Nope it actualy was fun. No to go oom but managing your mana bar. if you went oom it was becouse you played badly no becouse mana managment was bad feature. You were just bad player.
but mana was already not a thing anymore for dps classes before these things went out of the game?
Everyclass hat some way to gain Mana over the course of the fight passive while simply doing their rotation.
ret: judgement restored 25% of their mana (+plea)
hunt: viper aspect (if it ever was needed because rapidfire also regenerated a lot of mana)
sham: stormstrike 2% mana and ele: thunder and watershield
boomkin: talent that gave back 2% mana on each crit in form
mage: managem+ evocation (if ever needed because manacost were so low and stacking spirit as fire - except arcane)
spriest: manaregg on every mindblast, very low manacost, shadowfiend restore mana +dispers in very rare cases with very low gear
warlock: lifetap
this whole thing with mana for dps classes was a classic only thing and it was so boring and bad to play you can see yourself within the next weeks. also it added nothing to skillceiling but only a hefty amount of consumable grind.
Another day, another definition of what constitutes “RPG elements”. Sorry but what makes reforging an RPG element? and what does the old talent system have to do customizing your stats? why is the old talent tree RPG but new one isn’t?
In what rpg could you be completely useless when you ran out of mana, except some games where you could go full mage and were too stupid to not have a stock of mana potions or a weapon as alternative to casting spells?
In most games magic is an additional way to deal dmg, buff, and debuff, so mana exists so that you don’t spam fireball on everything that moves.
Even in shooters you still have the option to beat your enemy to death when you run out of ammo.
I’d like them to nerf mana regeneration. Or make spells that empower your current spells that cost a huge amount of mana, but Blizzard could also buff things like mana potions then. One of the epic things about Vanilla was the consumables being almost vital.
