I was checking some latest patches and it just hit me how many changes other classes had comparing to mage, I mean like srlsy, if you check couple latest patch notes pretty much all characters had some changes, buffs/nerfs, all except mages ( not including 10.1 as its so far away it all might change 3 times)
Now, what could be reason for it?
Class is so well balanced that it doesn’t need improvement

Well, i think we can all agree its defo not nr 1 reason Mages are far from best in PVP, there is plenty much better classes out there, all classes with instant cast/attack have tons of advantage over time casters…
Arcane is the biggest loser, after nerfs no one pretty much play it, check Aeghis,Xaryu,Mitch Jones - all pro mages which use to play arcane now switched to frost/fire and doesn’t want to come back to arcane, which if you ask me speak for itself…
Fine, arcane have big burst but if you break it ( which is dead easy ) then that’s about it guy is dead, arcane need re-design, more instant attacks or reduction of the cast time / something which will give him time to do his bits
What are your thoughts ? what are your ides what could heal class?
I mean after seeing the 4 set for 10.1 i made a definitive decision i wont be playing mage not even as an alt (was maining mage since start of SL). It pains me greatly that my favourite spec (arcane) will continue to suck. To my knowledge, its the only spec that didnt get any change whatsoever from start of DF and it has a lot of problems (UI clearcasts, talents that actually decrease dmg, variability of arcane tree build, where you just switch 3 talents compared to Devoker i alt rn).
I think at least arcane mage should get a rework or at least something to know that the spec isnt forgotten yet again. This is also the reason, why i switch to evoker for S2 because evokers are nmew class and they are most likely get attention of blizzard so the issues the class has will get adressed evetually (and they do get adressed).
I agree, arcane is sooo tremendously based on Arcane surge + touch of magi, its just not good to base whole character potential on one card, frost is OP, i agree they should re-design arcane
The new tier gear bonus looks nice however it come with a price, usually in PVP everyone were playing just with 2 parts where now its worth have 4 but tier gear have some crap stats which y will have to swallow…
I don’t get people’s inclination to say they are rerolling from the class. Blizz seriously doesn’t care. You’re continuing to pay them 15 bucks a month. You are giving them a subscription fee every month. Here take my money. But I will no longer play the class you are bleeding dry to save money, no. That will show you. Here’s another 15 so I can throw away all the investment I made into that char and reroll a Hunter. Just when you take my money, be very aware that I am not happy with what you’re giving me for it. But take it anyways. Financially supporting people who make a fool out of me is something that is very close to my heart.
I will not be playing in S2 if there is nothing for mages. In fact my sub is canceled right now and I’m not sure I’ll even resub for 10.7 - I reached my season’s goals and I’m not enjoying the design of my almost 20 year main character at all. Not gonna financially support this BS.
Do you think if 1-2 people cancel the sub they are interested? The entire Chinese market was closed, and it was a big part of ther incomes. I also don’t like that I had to change characters, but it’s already very boring that the mage hasn’t received any interesting new skills for 7 years. Of course there were times when it was strong, but even then it was boring to me because nothing had changed for years.
Its been a 3 button spec as long as I can remember? Ice lance was replaced with glacial spike for a while but it was still a very simple rotation. That’s not new. Maybe you just outgrew it. I was a frost main but got bored of raiding on it, been playing fire for years and lately find myself craving for some extra buttons to press.
nah there was a comet storm build in SL, added a proc reaction from set and also from talent to time shatter on, which was neat since they procced IV cdr but, don’t forget it was marileth era at the same time, which equalled out the good with absolute dogwater
