[wotlk]Nameplates of other faction?

I couldn’t remember how it was in tbc so I didn’t bother asking then.
But why am I still seeing nameplates above players of the other faction who are not flagged for pvp?
I am 100% certain Dalaran was not filled with nameplates back in the day so what gives?

I’m not a 100% sure this is what you’re talking about, but does pressing CTRL+V (toggling enemy nameplates) fix this for you?

If not, please give the following commands a try to reset the internal display variables of the game back to their defaults:

/console CVar_reset
/console CVar_default
/console ReloadUI

You may see a few warnings pop up about missing permissions, but you can ignore those - the part that needs to work for this to be cleared will still happen.

That didn’t work either. It’s been like this for the entirety of Classic.
I play on a pve server and I should not be seeing enemy nameplates on unflagged players of the opposing faction.
This is what I mean https://i.imgur.com/it3QAVy.png

You can imagine what flight points with afk people looks like. Or vendors.

Is it just bad programming? You can see here a player from 2009 with his enemy nameplates enabled, a Sky Terror flies close at 3:20. Once he lands in Dalaran around 5 mins. in, there is an undead there and he has no nameplate showing.

Now let’s go back to Classic to show it’s not just me with this problem. At 29:16 you can see a dwarf with a nameplate. So why is Classic like this?

No? Just me then?

This bugged behaviour exists on retail too.

Really? I’ve never seen it on retail.
