The issue here is, that currently you loose by doing PvP anyway as there are not enough players listed and thus even if you PvP 24/7 you can’t really progress and thus PvP only makes sense for the purpose of PvPing but not for obtaining PvP-Gear and most people, at least on PvE-Servers, only PvP for the sake of faction or rank-rewards.
Im sorry but if you really think that everyone flocked to tbc because of a poorly executed launch, you are the one in a bubble. Most went for the new races, the revised and extended talent trees and the hype. Some will come back to era, most wont. It is what it is.

All EU Realms are connected and not a single BG has been opened in the last days between 7 and 11 pm. i think, blizz is not really interested in matching teams.
So…
I feel sorry for you, but I do not know what to do. I play most every day in that timespan, but as a ingrained PvE player I do not enjoy BGs. There are so many much more fun things I can do in that same time, and I can only use my time once.

It’s a downward spiral where people see no bg’s running and hardly anyone online, and then go offline because insert dead realm reason here. Adding to the problem that actiblizz don’t want to fix.
Personally would love to do BG’s as solo content is running dry, but I’m not even queueing for BG. They don’t even pop during primetime in weekends so am not bothered to try on a regular basis.

Kyru, I get what you mean, BUT messages like this
is keeping thost maybe wanting to try from doing so. Furterhmore it migth be true for HW, but is not so for the PvE cluster - I think that those who wants to play Classic Era from HW slowly but steadily are either re-rolling to or paying transfer to PvE cluster. At least I see many at lower levels there (Yes I re-rolled as well).
I don’t know about the PvP servers.
But please keep your pessimistic messages specific and correct.

Even so, you acknowledge the fact that the game is bleeding players.
If you expect people to pay hundreds of euros for transfer or to start over on an established realm I don’t know where you are coming from.
HW is dead. A guild with 4 60s doing scholo would be top guild on the server. There is a flux of new players, I expect a maximum of ten of these to reach lvl 60, even less to actively play in group content. 90% of these new players are not even on global channel. Most are not guilded, they generally do not play together and I have not seen them in any dungeons. And they are now in the 20-30s. Meanwhile the 3 real active players are boosting eachother in deadmines, gnomer and whatnot. I understand and fully accept that people play as they wish, but I also expect you to understand that this is not a playerbase forming a healthy realm. At all.
The crap situation is not exclusive to HW at all. And just because some servers have been lucky and got connections, doesn’t mean those that don’t have connections should be silent. Quite the contrary. We will continue to come back here and bump our demands for justice.

I’m asking you to not say that the situation on HW is the general state of realms. I don’t think - mind you think - that Classic as a whole is losing any more players. Actually I think we have reached the lowest point and are climbing now. But not all realms will survive. The PvE cluster is actually GROWING! That’s why I left behind my characters on HW and re-rolled there. I haven’t got the money for a transfer.

And you are wrong. It is the general state of all realms. No matter what realm you are on, the transfer price is the same. You who cannot afford this should really understand. Transfer is also a sub-optimal solution.
There are multiple realms left in the dark and they are representable of the game as a whole.
I asked before, but never got answer; In what human ideology do you save only some passengers from a sinking ship only to let a random count be left to go down with the ship?

Now to lesser matters 
I never disputed the transfer price, and of course it is the same from / to all realms. Who ever said that it is not so?
And why is transfer sub-optimal? I would grasp free transfer with both hands.
Which realms are “left in the dark” as you say? I can see that the RP-PvP realm (ZT) is in a bad way. But I have never stated that it should be left alone. I have always spoken for a merge of all of one kind servers AND free transfer in all directions.
I am in short not the one who should answer your strange question.

I see more and more people on HWL every day, at least on the ally side. Give it some time:) But I do agree that those who are unhappy there should get a free transfer to the pve hub. Its a much better solution than merging the only rp pve server into the big mash.

Happy to hear this. I still play there form time to time, and would love it to grow as well!
I think 3 servers are optimal. One of each PvE, RP-PvE and PvP, since the people on ZT has been clamouring for a merge with noone protesting.
I do not have any thing whatsoever on the other language realms. I bow to the players there.
The game is bleeding players. How one pool of servers are growing a little from a mixture of transfers, new players and tbc returners. is not relevant. It does not represent.
It is not justified that veteran and new players need to start fresh on an established realm.
People are already long gone though so this is becoming an echo chamber from a few of us. Provoking the matter like you do does not help. There are major server problems to deal with and there is no denying that. You are not even denying it yourself, you are just scared that the game is represented for it’s true status. Well I’m sorry, indeed we all wish it was different. So do us all a favor and don’t drown the screams for difference with excuses that’s it’s not so bad.
HW population is still going down. There are constant influx of new players that merely give an illusion of the pop being stable/growing.

Live, sure. Thrive, perhaps. Suffer, definitely. A new nostalrius is already in the talks, but people had their fill. The community is split and the reasons to move on are many.
Maybe FFXIV would tell us how many new players they have gained past couple months, no they don’t give out numbers either.
