WoW Classic Pre-Launch Test - 8 August 20:00 CEST and Minimum Specs

#1

Update: There are two more realms opened up in EU. If you are stuck in a queue you may want to try one of those.

Hello!

Our global pre-launch test of WoW Classic will begin on Thursday, 8 August at 20:00 CEST and is scheduled to end on Friday, August 9. This test will be available to all World of Warcraft players with a current subscription or active game time in all regions. The maximum character level will be 15.

We ask that players please log-in and play as much as possible during the first two hours of the test – 20:00 CEST to 22:00 CEST, as that is when we’ll be actively monitoring for issues important to launch.

WoW Classic is now ready for all players to install from the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App in advance of the test. To install WoW Classic:

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft in the game selection menu on the left.

  2. Under the Version dropdown menu, select World of Warcraft Classic. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second dropdown for Account. In that column, select the active account to associate with your WoW Classic install.

  3. Click the Install button. You’ll see an installation progress bar that will show you when the installation is complete.

Minimum Specs

We’ve finalized the minimum specifications required to play WoW Classic on PC or Mac. Please note that these are much lower than the minimum specs required to play Battle for Azeroth. Recommended specs are the same for both.

In our hardware testing, we found that we were able to successfully run WoW Classic on systems manufactured and released in the 2007-2009 timeframe, and thanks to improvements in how we build and distribute game data, the hard drive space requirements are actually smaller than they were in version 1.12 of original WoW.

PC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OPERATING SYSTEM Windows® 7 64-bit (with latest Service Packs)
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750

MEMORY 2 GB RAM (4 GB for integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics series)
STORAGE 5 GB available space
INTERNET Broadband internet connection
INPUT Keyboard and mouse required. Other input devices are not supported.

MEMORY 2 GB RAM (4GB for integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics series)

why am I excited for a test? I guess anything to get closer to the real classic experience

Hm… with the age of those components it would be good to have “absolute minimum” requirements and minimum modern requirements so that people having some current systems or seeking to buy something look at the modern hardware like Athlon 200GE/R3 2200G and not Core 2 Duo type of hardware. Plus things like Intel Atoms, Pentiums, Celerons from ultracheap tablets and laptops often can be weaker than HD 4000 on the GPU side.

What about realm list? It’s not that long until that 12th August, we need to sort a few things out first

I know I could have done this a long time ago, but I wanted to wait until this moment: Finally uninstalled retail.

So close now!

#7

Big true.

Hope it’s before August 13th  It would be great.

But I am glad to witness this moment, the install made available. We’re going home!

#8

but it’s an old build

#9

HRRRNRNNGNNGGGNGNGN…

Called it, the Russian leak was real ;D

#12

I don’t have enough room on my SSD to transfer the whole World of Warcraft folder, can I just transfer the Classic folder or would this not work? Sorry if this is silly question im not tech savvy at all

#13

Indeed, quite accurate. But I do wonder why they decided on a lvl 15 cap instead of 20.

So many fun spells at lvl 20 and it’s not as if everyone save for a handful of people would 1-day it to that level.

+10 to my Hype level, having Classic on the computer is like having a good lasagna in the owen

#15

alright, server names?

(Bigkeg) #16

Check WoW setting in the BNet launcher (the cog icon) - in one of tabs there should be paths to both versions - see which is for Classic and move that folder to new location and it should work.

#17

I’m like a dog staring at its treat now, waiting for the command that he may take it
Stares intensely at the play button

#18

wait what?

#19

It is a Thursday, like just all Classic stress tests previously.

Plus, it was quite obvious that they would do it before the character name reservation.
Not a leak, just pure guess.

the path is just D:\World of Warcraft. this folder contains retail and classic, ive not enough room for it all, I just wanted to run classic from SSD as its a small enough size
