WoW for real money - a Taboo?

Then reach for it

No.
(end of discussion)

They tried it in Diablo and failed badly and we do not need it in wow its bad enough already .

This is bad because it undermines the sense of world and the sense of community by creating a foreign exchange between the value of the world’s primary trading currency, that is gold, and the real world. Where is this foreign exchange? Well, it doesn’t exist, because by all accounts Earth doesn’t exist to our characters or the Warcraft world.

World of Warcraft’s design pillars are:

  1. Sense of world
  2. Sense of community
  3. Great combat
  4. Constant stream of content

This idea damages half of them. There’s a reason Blizzard were against it for 10+ years, but it seems to me they lost their minds when they introduced the token. Let’s not make it worse.

We can hope.

Would be nice if we could buy vault unlock slots or Raid drop chests from blizz store instead of having to go through boosters

No.

No way Jose- as others have said, they tried it in D3 and look how that went

kind of early for a obvious weekend troll thread

Murder is criminalized irl, but it happens as well. Should we legalize murder as well? Just because people break rules does not mean it should be legalized

Did i mention murder or violence anywhere? nobe - am talking about currency and not physical or psycological crimes/behavior

So please stay on topic - Cant compare a watermelon with a car

Its totally like talking with my GF - i talk about tomatoes and she starts to talk about potatoes

I genuinely don’t understand these responses.

We are already there - have been for years. You can already buy progress and gear for money. How can you think otherwise?

Obviously, you can buy boosts for real money directly, outside the rules and the game. There are plenty of websites with price lists for whatever you might think of.

Or you can buy them for real money indirectly, “legally”, staying within the rules, by laundering your money through Blizzard’s Tokens. It’s more expensive, but no risk to your account.

Yuh pays yer money and yuh takes yer choice.

There is no difference in principle between Blizzard selling gear directly and Blizzard providing a safe trading scheme for players to sell gear - well, OK, there is for the very tip-top Famed Slayers and such, but not for the other 99.999%

I said directly. Gear on the AH isn’t unlimited… and gear from boosts are RNG.

There is a service that will buy any gear piece on any EU AH and deliver it to you. That can be done within the rules too. But ofc not every BiS piece is BoE. And boosts are RNG, but no more so than regular clears.

So while I grant that Blizzard offering vendors like the MDI realms, where you can pick up as many of whatever as you want, would be more than is in the game now, almost anything that can be done within the game can be bought, and the only exceptions are the “firsts” and the esport competitions.

P.S. I just checked. You can buy full CN BiS 213 from the standard price list, but it may take 3-4 weeks to complete. Nice touch of honest there. However, the helpful service will (for a price) help you fill in with M+ and PvP gear up to 220. I didn’t investigate Mythic gear, because, to be fair, that won’t be commonly available.

Absolutely NO!

If blizzard truly cared about the player base then they would hand out perm bans to all these boosters trading for real currencies. They lack the care to go after these people though. Blizzard is a greedy company with zero regard for it’s customers.

They should be banning these people instantly, it’s not like they can’t actually trace these boosters?
It’s just that they flat out don’t care, but it would be progressively worse when Blizzard would sell it themselves.

Why even play this game when you just want to win using your wallet?
It’s the same as those losers that play FPS games and get steamrolled and then turn to ‘cheating services’ to get a win.

The principle is the same, it’s a hollow victory only to make yourself feel better because otherwise you can’t get where you feel you should be in the game?

Maybe if you think that way then singleplayer games would be a better option for them, cheating or buying your way through a game is senseless and only promotes bad behaviour.

the solution is to kill off this game.
WOW is dead. this is not wow, this is a cash-mall game. a game where people make guilds to make money.
the economy of the game used to be: get stuff, use ah.
now its: buy tokens > get boosted > boosted gold sold online for real money.
kinda reminds me of Entropia Universe (obviously not as hardcore as EU).

this game is not worth playing anymore. i wish more player left it already, people are grabbing on nostalgia, i guess.

your “love” for this game is showing too much

try to be more sensible… i was always in a camp that believes pandarens were a mistake, but i dont want you to leave, i want you to play bgs as ally, when i am horde ^^
what i mean by that is that there is always a way to enjoy even a poor feature ( like MoP content ) if I can kill it with Orc warrior i can tolerate it.

ooooo orc warrior so interesting and original class…
BAAAH boooring.

MOP is one of the best expansions. it gave us mythic raiding, challenge mode, great professions, transmog, great zone design, great music, nice micro events and lots more.
also the greatest class and race in the game, pandaren monk.

how can you possibly say its features are bad ? objectively, its simply false. it was a great expansion.

and why would i play this game ? this game is trash. it promotes in-game cash. SL has no content, and the few that it has is bad. im sorry, but SL ruined the game for me. its the opposite of everything good in wow.
they literally said “blizzard celebrates 30 years !!! and for sticking around, we are gifting you the ability to buy new mount in the shop”…

breaking rules means breaking rules. No need to destroy wow into a pay 2 win bullcrap because some people will break the rules anyway.

Yes, they will.

However, the point is that with the Token, it can all happen without breaking the rules.

Sooo, essentially pay to win !!!?

Gentlemen… and ladies ofc, I believe I have found the Actiblizzard spy hiding among us.
