Hello,
my PC Shuts down every 1-5 minutens after i startet Midnight Beta, i don’t know how its happening, if anyone can help me here i really appreciate it. I Have a Nividia Gefroce RTX 5090 32GB and a CPU AMd AM5 Ryzen 9 9950X3D if its helping, the PC is alos just 2 weeks old. Just so u know its not my PC i testet it on other games like Battlefield 6, they are running just fine, its just everytime i start wow Midnight beta it shuts down my PC, makes no diffrence if the PC wos running for 6 hours or 5 minutes its always the same. I also updatet my windows and graphics card drivers. i hope somebody know something did not find anything simular to my problem. Thank you very much.
I doubt Midnight has any commands to make your PC shutdown.
Generally “unexpected shutdown” is caused by either driver failure or hardware failure. Check Windows Event viewer for any possible bluescreen/bugcheck events - those usually point towards hardware or driver failure.
If the only event related to that is "Previous system shutdown was unexpected” then more often than not it is related to some sort of power failure; eg. PSU or motherboard.
If you have any active overclocking (and that includes also memory XMP, EXPO or similar profiles) disable then and see if the problem persists.

Thanks for the help.
What i found on Windows Event viewer ist Kernel-Power 41.
I know that WoW dont has any commands to shutdown my PC, but its weird because it only happens on Midnight Beta.
I testet it the last 2 hours played different games, tried everthing to push my PC to its limits but nothing happens, it only happens if i open WoW Midnigt Beta. Its just weird….
I dont have any overclocks active.
WinKey+R => eventvwr => this will open Event Viewer => Windows log => System
check what it writes when it shut down
edit: while I did check the right command, you write that comment above
do you have maxfps enabled ?

if maxfps is not enabled after first starting WoW Midnight Beta, then i did not enable it.
i dont wont to open the game rigt now to look it up, because i did already open the game like 3-5 times to try things out and everytime it shutsdown in 1-5 mins it is always diffrent timings. Its like insta Black screen and some crackling noise in my headset, dont wanna hurt my Pc more, if its hurting my PC, I am not that knowledgeable in this kinda stuff.
If there is no other errors then likely cause in my experience (including personal experience last year) is either faulty PSU or motherboard.
What are the exact system specs, including PSU make?

- in Battle.net app/program click on the cogwheel (located right from the play button) => Show in Explorer => now you are in your World of Warcraft folder through windows explorer
- navigate to
World of Warcraft\_beta_\WTF => there is only file Config.wtf => right click => open with… => notepad
- scroll to bottom and add these 3 things
SET useMaxFPS "1"
SET maxFPS "60"
SET maxFPSBk "8"
- check if the commas
" " are right, you can copy/paste the commas from commands above in the text you editing
- save/CTRL+S
other thing can be that your GPU had melted power cables

Decent and should be enough, though this is Corsair’s cheaper series which is quite weird choice considering the rest of your components. Saving on a PSU is generally not a good idea.
But obviously even good PSUs can break (hopefully in a way preventing damage to the other components). I personally had random shutdowns I eventually traced down to a PSU and replacing it fixed the issue.
Assuming software fixes, updates etc. don’t fix the issue I’d probably start hardware diagnostic by replacing PSU. Make sure to also replace the cables from whatever PSU you get as a replacement - never mix cables from different modular PSUs - even from the same manufacturer unless you are absolutely sure the cables are compatible.

Thanks but the fps thing did not work and no kabels are burnt thank god…
For the PSU thing:
Ok will try. Open for anything do be more on the safer side.
Just a few questions:
- do u have any recommendations for me?
- Can I do it myself? never did I ever build a Pc myself. I will just Look up some guides if I get a new one, if it is not to hard do replace.
Thanks for the help until now.
PCs are interssting and a Little Hard to unterstand. What 1 Beta Game can do to your PC. I littearly tried many Games now it’s just WoW Beta, Crazy.
If you bought the computer as a pre-built you should contact the seller so they can diagnose further if needed as I assume it will have some level of warranty.
In my experience diagnosing random shutdowns like this is one of the most difficult and time consuming process unless you have available spare parts to replace one at a time to locate the problematic part. If you are new to the computer hardware in general I would suggest finding somebody who can assist you further. I am not comfortable giving that level advice over Internet forums.
Sometimes problems happen only in specific situations - least in your case the problem is easily reproducable. For me it was random shutdowns from once or twice per month to few times per week and usually in different situations so actually tracking down was quite annoying.

U might be right. I will just Contact my seller maybe they can help me.
Still if someone might have some useful informations or found something useful just comment on my thread I will be looking back in here until it’s fixed.
Thanks again for all the help.
See ya maybe in Midnight Good night
I got two more questions for you.
Have you tried running the RAM at default speeds to test for stability issues? Disable the XMP profile and let it run at 4800 instead of 6000.
Also what’s your display’s refreshrate? Do you have a framecap active or gsync/vsync on?
Are you running WoW uncapped? If so, does the shutdown still occur if you limit your FPS to say 60 (just for testing purposes)?

When you say kit x2 do you mean 2 sticks of ram or two kits of 2 sticks?
Its pretty common for 2 sticks to be able to run stable on higher clocked ram but then be less stable if you try and do the same thing with 4 sticks. Some motherboard manufacturers will actually state to use lesser speed ram when using all 4 due to possible instability issues.

I think we did it Guys and i am sure its wos the 4 Ram sticks fault i removed A1 and B1 i also set Power Limit to 90% in MSI Afterburner for now and switched on V-Sync and ist running without any shut downs.
Maybe the problem would have been fixed from the first comment if i knew what memory XMP, EXPO really meant…. yea s.. happens but removing 2 Ram sticks wos the better option now that i did read more into it thanks to Charbolt.
But again Thanks to all of u i learnd many things maybe it will be helpful sometime in the future.
Ps. if anything still happens the next couple of days/weeks i will keep u updatet.
kind regards Phil

Could be burnt out overclocking indeed.
Thanks everyone for assisting!
Hopefully it doesn’t return.
