Wow struggling to open

Hello. I’ve come back to the game to play the newest expansion, and for the first few weeks the game would open normally, but recently (I could say around 12.0.5? Could have been just before it) I can’t seem to get the game to open until half an hour later, where the game would continue to load everything slowly (if it even lets me through to retail). My game never lagged like this before.

I tried everything, from clearing cache in the files, to flushing my dns, to opening with directx11, to running it as admin to even scanning and repairing it. The scan and repair takes ages, and although I’ve done this numerous times its only worked once. I’ve even reinstalled the whole game hoping it was some corrupted file that needed to be installed properly. I know it can’t be network issues as my mom runs wow just fine on the same internet.

I have a decent pc that’s taken wow before any upgrades I’ve done and I have my graphics drivers upgraded. It was fine a month ago until it stopped loading as quickly.

I have addons installed through curseforge that I keep to date but i even removed all addons before trying to launch it up multiple times. I don’t understand what else it could be.

Someone posted in technical support, here:

With an identical problem, literally word for word identical. You might want to keep your comments in technical support as it seems like its more of a technical issue, and not a customer support issue.

If that WAS you, cross posting, be aware that both Technical Support and Customer Support are the same teams, so you’re not actually “doubling your chances” of a fix.

Yeah its me I just didnt realised it swapped profiles. Didn’t know that about them, should I delete one of them then?

They have lot of connection issues these past weeks, I did update Hearthstone outside of peak hours, and at 90% it limit it to 5KB/s , pause/unpause did make it go full speed.
So with scan&repair, i would suggest to try it multiple times

most likelly WoW takes long time to open because of some anti-malware software or citrix
then block one IP range, that will probably fix this

  1. block IP range 137.221.64.0/24
  2. in Battle.net app/program click on the cogwheel (located right from the play button) => Show in Explorer => now you are in your World of Warcraft version of your choice folder through windows explorer
  3. copy the top bar for full path name location so you have easier navigation for the guide below
  4. WinKey+R => wf.msc => you are in advanced firewall settings
  5. follow guide: Waiting 10 mins for wow to launch ( solved problem )
