I don’t know why, but for some reason the people working on Cataclysm Classic decided to price the level 80 Wrathful Gladiator PvP very much incorrectly. Somehow this does not get the attention it needs and I feel I need to at least get it off my chest.
Just a few disclaimers:
-
Yes I know, they have reduced costs by 66% across the board, and in 13 days it won’t matter, but still, it’s the principality for me.
-
Yes I know, honor gains were terrible early Cataclysm, which is why they doubled any and all honor gains in patch 4.1. Spoiler alert: It was still bad.
-
Yes I know, initially with the pre-patch, the head, shoulder, and weapon items still had rating requirements, but it was changed during the pre-patch. (Original Cataclysm had a very long, multi-stage pre-patch)
The Wrathful Gladiator PvP items in the original Cataclysm pre-patch in 2010 had the following costs:
Class Sets
- Head: 1650
- Shoulders: 1040
- Chest: 1650
- Hands: 1040
- Legs: 1650

- Trinket: 945
Melee Weapons
- Two-Hand: 2550
- One-Hand: 1785
- Off-Hand: 760
Caster Weapons
- Two-Hand: 2550

Obviously some people are going to cry about sources, so here you go. Took me a whole 3 minutes to find. Wonder where the devs got theirs. Perhaps the same hat as the weekly bot account ban numbers.

Another cool little thing I found in that there blog, was this post, where the person is talking about honor and how to obtain it in the pre-patch. A number 75 came up, as the average amount of honor this person gained per battleground.
Now factor in the patch 4.1 doubling, and we should earn roughly 150 honor points per battleground.
Maybe someone finds this useful or whatever. If not, well, go pound sand.
