Overwatch - Battle Pass and Shop

I tried to defend the new monetization of overwatch and i still think this is the way to go. But now that i got my hands on it, it’s obvious that once again the coporate activision blizzard is pushing great developers to make a cashcow instead of an great balanced game where people can have fun and the company can make money of it.

The EP needed for the battlepass is WAY TO HIGH. Or phrased differently, the EP gained by matches and Challenges are way too low. This is not balanced at all, and it feels already grinding after 5 levels with battlepass boost. Can’t imagine how F2P-Players will feel and abandon the game shortly which is bad for everyone involved.

Secondly the shopitems are totally out of order. 30 bucks für an Skin, Emote, phrase, spray and victory pose? I mean come on, that’s like half of Last of Us or almost the whole IT TAKES TWO Game. Your Art is great and all, but why do you don’t get more players involved and hooked before sending them right away to the competiters again. And they also raised OWL prices by 50%. I don’t know who is doing the marketing of OW2, but god damn do you really wanna scare new players away so badly? Why not start with skins at 10 dollars. Bump out greater skins for 15 dollars around the season and then jump to 25 for mythic somewhere on the line.

I love Overwatch and i’m really exicted for Overwatch 2s future. The Developers made great changes to PVP and its engaging and fun - but if you don’t give new players more an feeling of accomplishment and let them earn stuff in an engaging timeframe (Not feeling grindy after only 5 levels), this will dig the grave of the game we hold so dear.

Battlepass EP and Shop prices/value need to be tuned accordingly in the next 2 Seasons or this game will stay far behind of what it could’ve been. And i dare to see the world, as it should be.
