Bard Class Concept

New Class Concept: Bard

Introduction

I’d like to propose a new class concept for World of Warcraft: the Bard. The Bard is a versatile class that uses the power of music to inspire and heal allies or to unleash devastating attacks on enemies. This class would have two specializations: Damage and Healing.

Specializations

Damage

The Damage specialization focuses on using powerful tunes to deal damage to enemies. Here are some abilities and their potential effects:

  • Power Chord: Strikes a single enemy with a burst of sonic energy, dealing X damage.
  • Riff of Ruin: Plays a chaotic riff that deals Y damage to all enemies within a certain range.
  • Harmony Break: Deals Z damage and silences the target for a short duration.

Healing

The Healing specialization emphasizes the Bard’s ability to support and restore their allies through soothing melodies. Some abilities could include:

  • Calming Sounds: Play some calming sounds to ease an allies wounds for X health over Y seconds
  • Song of Serenity: Reduces the damage taken by allies within range by Z% for a short time.
  • Chorus of Courage: Increases the attack and healing power of allies within range by X% for Y seconds.
  • Resonant Refrain: Heals all nearby allies for a small amount and boosts their movement speed for a brief period.

Class Specific Stances/Modes

Like the warrior and rouge, the bard would have stances or modes of how they play music. These modes could be increasing healing recieved or increasing the damage of nearby allies.

  • Calming Melody: Increases haste of nearby allies
  • Battle Hymn: Increase the damage of nearby allies
  • Echoing Tunes: Increase the duration of your allies DoTs and healing affects

Lore/Backstory

In BFA (Battle For Azeroth), you can find bards in Inns around the Kul Tiras harbor. You can also find in many major citys NPCs playing instruments such as in Inns, shops, and around parks or other non-interactive POIs (Point of Intrest). We see plenty of bard dracthyr inside of the Dragon Isles.

What Races Can Play As Bards?

Since we have seen NPCs play instruments, I belive that because they are either seen doing it, or would fit with the race the following races should be able to be played as a bard.

Alliance

  • Human
  • Night Elf
  • Pandaren
  • Kul Tiran
  • Worgen

Horde

  • Tauren
  • Goblin
  • Vulpera
  • Pandaren
  • Zandalari Troll

Conclusion

The Bard class would bring a unique and engaging playstyle to World of Warcraft, allowing players to harness the power of music to either devastate their foes or bolster their friends. I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this concept!

Feedback

Please share your feedback and ideas to help refine this concept. What abilities or mechanics would you like to see for the Bard class? How do you think this class could fit into the current meta or lore of WoW? Would you play this as a toon or as a new main? Should other races play as bards? Should the races I listed not be bard?

Sorry to tell you but you’re in the wrong forum! This one is exclusively dedicated to collecting feedback on the Battle.net launcher app.

If you want to provide feedback on WoW you can do so directly in the game or in the corresponding forums. However, the general consensus on classes is that there are already too many for Blizzard to properly balance them. Adding even more won’t help in this respect.

PS: I’ve a feeling that your abilities’ descriptions sound very familiar – LotRO anyone?
