Battlenet Authenticator error when adding - Oops Something Went Wrong

Hello,

I changed mobile phone today and have installed the Battlenet app on my new phone. I am able to log into it fine but I was having an issue with trying to enable the authenticator as I was getting a codeless ‘Unknown’ error that just says “Oops! Something Went Wrong”

I removed the authenticator from my account as per one of the support answers suggesting but this has not remedied the situation. To make things worse, I am getting the same error if I try to enable the authenticator on my old device as well which it was working fine on prior to me trying to move it over to this new device.

I have followed every step in the support documents and other forum threads (clearing cache, clearing storage data, uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, changing browser etc.) and nothing is working. I am still getting the same issue.

The two devices are both Android devices so I am unsure if there is an issue with enabling authenticator on Android systems with the latest battlenet app update?

Some help would be greatly appreciated as I don’t want to worry about my account’s security!

Bump, I also have this unknown error. Help

I am also having this issue. Have tried the same steps as OP on a fresh phone (Android).

Yeah – this is also being reported in the Battle.Net Mobile Bug Report forum…

and

Seems to affect both iOS and Android.

Not sure if the mods here will escalate this to the developpers… so you may want to add your comments in those posts. This forum is for feedback… not reporting bugs.

Best of luck with this.

Thanks a lot for this - I wasn’t sure if there was a bug report on the eu side! It looks like it’s impacting more than just Android as you say, so hopefully there’s a solution soon as it must be app side. Added my voice to the top thread though, appreciate the signpost!

Same thing, got a new phone tried to swap the authenticator, couldnt add it, so removed it from the old phone, cant now add it again. Very annoying.

Looks like the solution is:

You’ll need to try it… but there are already a few players saying it did work for them…

I’ve been having the same issue since yesterday, I tried again earlier without any luck. But it just worked. All I really did before was delete cache/data previously and I also uninstalled my antivirus. But this time around I just tried it and it worked, maybe they changed something on their end

That is quite possible… the issue was reported some 24 hrs ago.

And then…

Can confirm this is now working. Looks like the issue must have been Blizzard’s end and they have solved it.
