How do I turn off or block the news feed page when Battlenet starts? I am sick to death of seeing twitch streamers OR any other kind of promotion for someone from Youtube on my desktop when all I want to do is play D4.
Hi,
There’s an option in Battle.Net Settings to select either the last viewed game page instead of the “Home” page (what you called news feed page) when the App launches. It won’t stop the occasional ads popup, however.
Click the blue Battle.Net logo in the top left corner of the App and select Settings… then look for the “Startup” section in the right pane. Change the value of the “On startup, view” box to “Last viewed game page” and click “Done” to save the change.
Cheers !
Thanks for replying but Ive tried that, it take me to D4 as you state but there’s still the promotion window right there showing whatever Blizzard decides to show.
Aperfect world for me is click the desktop icon for D4 and the game loads Bnet quietly in the background and just starts the game, no streamer or youtube nonsense people on my screen
Hi:
That is correct… The procedure in my post takes you from this:
to this:
when you launch the Battle.Net Launcher – but here is still one rotating advertisement visible.
I guess one could argue that the 2nd one is better than the 1st one… I would… and I did put up with the 2nd one for a while. Nowadays, however, I keep the Battle.Net launcher in the System Tray – the launcher goes in the System Tray automatically when I boot up my computer in the morning and stays there all day – note the Battle.Net Launcher icon in the System Tray, 1st icon to the right of the ^ key:
When I need to launch a game (I only have one), I right-click on the Battle.Net Launcher icon in the System Tray and then click on the game (Diablo III in my case).
The Battle.Net launcher will show up for a second or so (depending how fast your system is)… but then it disappears and the game launches.
You will still need to access the Battle.Net launcher once in a while… when you need to update a game, for example, or when you need to update the launcher or if you want to check your Friend’s list. And that is why I keep the Battle.Net Laucher window as small as it can be… there’s room for only one advertisement.
I suppose Blizzard has little interest in offering such a system…
Have a nice day – best of luck in your games !
For those who would like to copy my setup and try it – there are 4 fields that need to be configured in the Settings panel… two fields are under “General” and the other two are under “Startup”. See this screenshot:
Cheers !
