I downloaded a copy of diablo 2 from Blizzard website because my CD copy wouldn’t work.
After installing it, I used my CD copy of LOD and it installed but, comes up with
This application has encountered a critical error
The data file is corrupt
Shouldn’t they work together??

This is due to installing the game from two different sources (Download and CD) and causing the files to “clash”. When installing Diablo II, you need to install both the base game and Lord of Destruction from the same source.
If you download the client to install Diablo II, then you must do the same for the expansion. If you want to use the CD’s to install the game, then you need to use them for both installations.
You can get both installers from our downloads page (If you can’t see Lord of Destruction, claim your CD key to your Blizzard Account first)
