Can't link xboxx account

i cant link game pass account to battle.net
502 Bad Gateway error

I am getting exact same error and was referred to an article (https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/000035744) that is unhelpful. In my case, the xbox side showed the accounts were linked, but blizzard does not see that, only to + connect. Removing from xbox side, and re-adding (and in a different browser to rule out troll support), did nothing.

@Blizzard - Please don’t put in articles to “wait 30 days” to try again, we pay on a monthly/annual subscription here. Updates/refreshes do not take that long any more…

Same here bud. I raised a ticket and despite the quick response time, no one could suggest me anything I hadn’t already tried by then. They only ask me to head over here and complain, hoping anyone who’ll actually know how to fix this will show up.

If it’s a 502 (just as my case), unfortunately it’s on their god damn end to look into and address.

Just so this post doesn’t become a raging rant, so far I’ve:

  • Flushed browser cache and cookies. Nothing.
  • Tested another browser, clean, from scratch. Nothing.
  • Flushed DNS cache through an elevated CMD prompt. Nothing.
  • Tried through my phone, (avoiding my Wi-Fi network). Nothing.
  • Tried flushing my public IP by turning off the router and on again (did also verify the public IP changed). Nothing.
  • Logged out from both BN and Xbox before proceeding, during each of the steps I mentioned. You guessed it. Nothing.
  • Tried revoking Battle.net’s permissions through Xbox, and tested again. Nah.
  • Checked my BN account was not on trial mode or whatever (I’ve been using it for more than 10 years now)
  • Checked no current connections are up in my BN account, aside from Facebook and Prime Gaming. This dismisses the claims my account may already be linked to another Xbox credentials. Nay.
  • Verified my Xbox account is not linked to any other BN account (same as previous step, but the other way around). Nay.

There’s no direct error message coming from battle.net’s website, aside from the raw 502 blank screen, which is a straight fail when attempting to reach the server. It seems it would be a failed attempt to reach Microsoft, from Blizzard. The failed GET interaction goes something like this:

Hope this is checked by someone soon. I was already bitter at Blizzard, this is not making it any better.

I can’t believe this. I fixed it. Just a few seconds after posting my reply here. lol.

Run your Xbox app, look for Overwatch in the search bar and click Install. It will prompt you to install and set up Battle.net first, click yes and have it run the Setup (even if you already have Battle.net installed).

Once done, a pop up will warn you about the account linking stuff. Just accept and go through with it, and it will be finally done.
