I’ve added my WC3 CD-Keys to my battle.net account and now I’d like to do the same with my D2 CD-Keys. Is this possible in the same way? I found the installer download and I’m assuming you type in the keys during installation, but can I add them to my account like with WC3?

Exactly right! This will also convert your 16 Digit keys to the new 26 Digit keys required for installing.
The only thing is Diablo II still uses it’s own Launcher (it’s not on the Battle.net App), so just make sure you download that from the download page once you have the 26 Digit keys ready to go.
The keys would be found on Battle.net in the Games section once attached to your Blizzard account: https://account.blizzard.com/games#game-accounts
I just purchased D2 Classic from Blizzard and it downloads a file named “Downloader_Diablo2_enUS.exe”. I can’t run this on my Windows 10 PC. I’m the admin and it also doesn’t run if I use “run as admin”. I get a windows error that says I don’t have necessary permissions.
