It is very clear that the people who are complaining about endgame content are the same people who are praising Last Epoch and PoE for having a Maps or maps-like endgame with clear and easily read milestones (towers, lighthouses, farmed bosses), progress, and the ability to make changes to those maps with items or league mechanics.
I believe Diablo IV can do this very easily and offer the same procedurally generated environments over and over with different lighting and weather conditions and textures. That way if those same people do not want to do the –
-
campaign
-
second campaign
-
side quests
-
hell tides
-
nightmare dungeons
-
seasonal content not related to endgame
-
or anything else for that matter
Then they can just focus on happily mapping procedurally generated environments with little connect the dot patterns of progress. If it makes them happy, then it really is not a huge effort considering that all of the assets are already in the game and this could be a changing league mechanic or even combination of league mechanics for the “this is too easy, there’s nothing to do” crowd.Diablo IV has one of the best isometric arpg storylines and customization options for character appearance. Now you just have to get them to like the endgame and you can re-capture your audience.
