Hello,
I was recently defrauded out of A LOT of in-game Diablo IV gold due to a social engineer who tricked me into trading 9 billion in gold for a pair of Fists of Fate gloves that were not the pair I originally agreed to. How did the fraudster do that? The user placed the pair of Fists of Fate I had expected into the trade window, and I hovered over the gloves. They looked correct, so I accepted the trade. The user then backed out of the trade acceptance to modify the trade, and they swapped the Fists of Fate gloves I thought I was purchasing for a significantly inferior pair (i.e., contained terrible affix values) of Fists of Fate gloves. I failed to hover over the gloves again, because I assumed they were the same pair. When the trade completed, I hovered over them in my inventory, and they had terrible affix values compared to the pair I thought I was receiving. The experience infuriated me.
The “Secure Trade Window” should be enhanced with change detection when the same item is quickly swapped out by a user, to notify the person that user is trading with that a change was detected. A notification like, “Do you still want to proceed with the trade?”
Please work this change into a sprint.
Thank you,
Science
