Getting deranked because of AFK/Leavers in Ranked

I just had a ranked game where a player was AFK for the entirety of the match. We all went afk towards the end, because it was clearly not winable in a 5v4.

I got DEMOTED like -42% with comments like “volatile” and “reversal”. Before this I was on a pretty good winstreak.

I have a couple questions:

  1. Why the match wasn’t canceled? The AFK person was 30-40seconds in hero select mode, while the match has already started. Isn’t there a rule for this?
  2. Why were me and the other players on my team punished for a loss, that we had no control over?
  3. What happens to the AFK player? We probalby all reported him.

I am not expecting for you to do something about my lost rank, I am just hoping that someone find ways to fix this experience for the community. Like a feature if all players from each team agree to forfit the match, the game is over and its a draw, nothing happens.

I can’t be the only one.

For feedback on a specific game, you need to use the forums for that game.

You didn’t specify what game this was for… but I’m guessing it’s for Overwatch; if it is so, you should be posting in either Competitive Discussion or General Discussion.
