Having issues with installing classic Diablo 2

Hi all,
in anticipation of Diablo Immortal, I wanted to play through the main story of classic Diablo 2 again. I once bought the original game somewhen before the launch of Diablo 3 (so somewhen between 2011 and 2012 I guess).
When I go to my account, I have the 26 digit code for Diablo 2:Lord of Destruction. But in order to play, I have to first install base Diablo 2. And here comes the issue: I can’t enter the 26 digit code, as the installer tells me that it’s invalid. So how on earth do I install Diablo 2? The launcher only asks me to buy the game again, which isn’t helpful at all.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

You need 2 codes, 1 for Diablo II and another one for Diablo II: LoD. See my screenshot here – paste the URL in your browser:   https://i.imgur.com/8hgLthB.jpg

If you still have the original CDs (3 CDs)… my Diablo II CD-Key is glued to one of the CD cover.
I think that, in some cases, the CD-Key may have been on a card included with the CDs. You will need to redeem that 16-digit code to transform it into a 26-digit code for the installation.

Cheers !

Thank you for your reply @Boubou. Sadly, I only have Diablo 2:Lord of Destruction registered to my Blizzard account and I don’t have the CD keys anymore. I guess this means I can’t play the game anymore… :frowning:

Hi Leyaa,

You could purchase Diablo 2 (base) from the Blizzard Shop, if you really, really want it :

But yeah… you need the CD-Key to install Diablo 2.

Sorry !
