High ping and lagspikes in WoW retail

I get terrible lagspikes in retail WoW every 1-5 min. Its internet lag, not complete freezing. Game UI also sometimes shows me that my ping is ~600+ms to world server. It feels like it gets worse later on the day when more ppl are online. When I play with my friends none of them experiences these lag spikes. Also to mention I dont see any similiar issues playing other games.

What I have tried to fix my issue:

  • Deleted addons and restored ui.
  • Reinstalled the game.
  • Tried game on different operating system (linux)
  • Called my isp and they said everything should be fine, that my router might be going bad so I bought a new one.
  • Also got new ethernet adapter and switched all network cables to new ones.

None of these things helped with the lag issue.
So I did a WinMTR trace to this IP: 185.60.112.157 that I found on here, and here are the results:

Hi,

You should be posting on the WoW Technical Support forum… not here.

This forum here is for technical support on Blizzard’s Classic Games — legacy games such as Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Diablo II (2000).

Two comments on your WinMTR, if I may:

  • Something seems to be happening with the 2nd node… it is dropping 2% of the data and that 2% is continuing until the end. Check the cable between your router and the modem. Power cycle your network devices (see https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/31851 ) but leave your modem unplugged for 10~15 minutes.
  • I wouldn’t worry too much about the 995 ms average ping… Blizzard server can and do de-prioritize ICMP (pathping/traceroute/winmtr) data… and that shows up as lag in your data.

If the modem cable connection is ok and power cycling your network does not solve the issue, you should post on the WoW Tech Support forum and provide new WinMTRs to 185.60.112.157, 185.60.112.158 and 185.60.114.159 as requested in https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/27780 .

Good luck with this.
