Living Target Dummy

Hey Blizzard / WoW Community!

I wanted to share an idea that I think could be really useful—especially for players looking to improve their rotation in a more realistic, movement-heavy environment.

:bulb: Concept: Living Target Dummy
This would be a special kind of training dummy. Visually, it’s similar to a regular target dummy, but it does mechanics while you hit it.

What it does:

~It stays in place
~It doesn’t auto-attack or kill you (unless you’re a tank), but it periodically throws mechanics on the ground: swirlies, frontals, knockbacks, donut AoEs, random moving hazards, shrinking safe zones, etc.
~If you fail a mechanic, you’re penalized: maybe it damages you, or even kills you, so you have to start again.

:dart: Purpose:
This would act as a mechanics-integrated DPS training simulator:
~ Helps you practice your rotation while reacting to mechanics, like in real content.
~ Trains focus, spatial awareness, and multitasking.
~ Ideal for players trying to break the habit of tunnel visioning on a static dummy and prepare for Mythic+ or raid encounters.

:test_tube: Spec specific mode:
~ Healer mode (keep a friendly NPC alive during mechanics).
~ Tank mode (hold aggro and mitigate damage from a hitting version).
~ DPS mode (kill the boss in under a specific Time-Range with as few mistakes as possible)
What do you think? Would this help your practice sessions too?

Blizzard, if you’re reading: Many of us want to get better, but we don’t always have the perfect environment to do it. This could be an awesome “safe space” to grow as a player without the pressure of a full group.
