I’m writing this not just to Blizzard, but to you, the WoW community – to remember and revive something that once made battlegrounds vibrant, tactical, and honestly, addictive:
Twinking.
Back in the day, 19s, 29s, and 39s weren’t just “levels you passed through.”
They were full-on metas. Warsong Gulch was a battlefield of strategy, burst windows, flag routes, and class mastery. People crafted builds, farmed world drops for weeks, and fought for glory, not just honor points.
But today, twinking is practically dead on retail. Why?
Because Blizzard separated XP-On and XP-Off queues, isolating twinks from everyone else. And with no one left to fight, most brackets just dried up.
And that sucks – not just for us twinks, but for WoW’s PvP variety as a whole.
Let’s be honest: the modern player base is not fragile. People can handle being outplayed by a well-built rogue or a perfectly-kited hunter. Many actually want to try it themselves.
That’s why we’re asking:
Blizzard:
Merge XP-On and XP-Off battleground queues again.
Let the brackets live – even just one Twink PvP Week would show the spark is still there.
Reward it with cosmetics, not power – give people a reason to queue low-BG again.
And to YOU, fellow players:
Try building a 20, 30, or 39 twink with XP locked.
Queue up, duel, experiment – twinking is about creativity, class knowledge, and mastery.
Let’s prove that this isn’t just nostalgia – it’s a part of WoW that deserves to breathe again.
