Today I found my newly created character for the Mists of Pandaria event butt naked and without any bag apart from the backpack (now completely empty…). Is anybody in the same case?? So far my other characters seem to be ok. This is just weird.

I thought I should point out that there seems to be a workaround, sort of, in this topic in the WoW Bug Report forum:
It appears that if you delete your hero and then restore it, the items and bags are back. See details in that topic.

Thanks, yep posted in the right channel now. And yes, I submitted a bug report right away when it happened. Guess what? No luck, just get a generic reply telling me to go to the item restoration page lol
The same thing happened to me. It has not been resolved since then. I’ve been waiting for three days. The GMs are telling me complete nonsense and making me look like a (some vulgar word). They first advised me that I should delete the damaged character and have it restored and everything will be fine. I took the advice (bad decision), deleted the character, but can’t restore it! They first wrote to me that they would return my character IMMEDIATELY and then they started twisting and lying to me. I’m disgusted. So I don’t have character for three days, I correspond with impossible people who just talk and in the end do nothing.
Unfortunately, I deleted the character and could not restore it. At first, the GM promised me that they would return the character to me immediately, that it was a mistake, and they only promised me that for three days and nothing. I can’t restore the character. I don’t use Bagnom. 
I’m sorry to hear that several people had trouble.
I just wrote and got my bags back after 1 day. I did get the item restoration generic nonsense in a message though, but I also got an opinion poll question so I filled it out to say that it was nonsense. Hopefully by now you’ve got your character back !
