The quest items are sometimes best in slot. For instance, the quest reward from “For The Horde” provides one of, if not the best, trinket for all of vanilla. For instance, as a warrior or mage, there’s no issue when choosing the only useful one (except maybe the war can choose between the dps or tanking one).
However, this gets extremely problematic for classes that can have various specs. For example, I made a shaman on the 20th anni classic for the first time. Although I would have preferred to stay enhanced, the only way to raid with guilds was to go for resto. Therefore, I “had to” choose the eye of the beast (spell crit) vs the hand (melee crit). I understand that there could be better trinkets down the line, but before we can get access to them, we would have to make use of those we can get our hands on.
The argument about making another shaman for the other spec is absurd on many levels. Additionally, WHY would blizz impelement the dual spec option IF they wanted us to make multiple characters of the same class? It just doesn’t make sense why each class has to pick a VERY useful quest item to ONLY be stuck with it rather than staying versatile.
