WarCraft 1&2 Remastered Feedback

Hello Blizzard. I want to give you some Feedback after looking at your Remastereds from WarCraft 1 & 2.

First the good stuff:
Graphics: Overall i like the visual update on both games. It’s still true to the original and keeps the style of both WarCraft: Orcs & Humans, as well as WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness.
For my personal taste the colors have a bit too much contrast, but that’s really just a little nitpick.
Also on the technical/control side of the game some really good improvements. I even caught myself how i wanted to play WarCraft 1 again in the old style, with the “A” and “M” keys on the keyboard for attacking and moving. :stuck_out_tongue:
The Soundtrack of WarCraft 1 has beautifully been remastered(?) and its nice to hear those in high quality again.

My personal complaints:
The Briefings and the Score screens of both WarCraft 1 & 2 Remastered are a bit boring. The originals briefings of WarCraft 1 as well as the score screens of WarCraft 1 & 2 were both animated. Now those are just static screens and is missing a lot of personality. Especially the WarCraft II score screen had this “oomph”, this “punch” when it slapped you the numbers in your face and the numbers were counting up. I personally hope that redoing that isnt much of a deal and can be re-added.
Then another thing, but that’s regarding the german version (maybe other languages as well):
On the store page “german” is listed as a “supported language”, though there’s no german voice over. And that is for me (as a german) a big complaint.
I understand that much has been localized over the years and that names changed due to the localization of World of WarCraft, but please bring back the german voice over.
If you a german voiceover is already in the works or is planned to be re-added, then please give the player the option to choose, if they want to have the original voice over with the old localization, or if they want (if it will be done) the new voice over with the new localization.

That’s actually already all that i have to say about it.
During the past 10 years I’ve been disappointed a lot by what came from Blizzard Entertainment, but what you brought with WC1&2 Remastered as well as WC3R 2.0 gives me a little bit of hope. Continue this path.

Best Regards
An old Fan who’s playing your games for 28years by now.

i have something to add. both games is 32 bit only. there is no 64 bit executables. that seems very sloppy. i do play the remasters over the original versions however. the ability to select more units at once(9 for war 1 and 12 for war 2) is certainly a plus.

Hi,

I will talk about WC1.
I’m sorry but i’m disappointed for numerous reasons :

  • I have seriously the feeling, graphics have been improved only by IA => The cinematic are ugly with improvement. They should have been reworked completely
  • Cutscenes have been removed, why ? A remaster game should not respect the original one ?
  • The animation of Story narrator have been cut off too, why ? It was cool in the old days, now you have just a fixed pictures in HD, that’s it. In the past, the narrator sharpened its weapon and gave us the feeling to talk to us. Now it’s immobilized.
  • The police art have been removed, ok it’s translated but why the police is not used anymore ? Instead of just white text with no effect at all… seriously…
  • Have you listened the ugly music Remastered ? What the hell of this mess ? Ok we can play Classic music but it’s outrageous, the game is supposed to be entirely Remastered

The only good thing is the improvement of gameplay, we can select more than 9 units while in the past only 4 of them and playing with one button.
So for me it’s not worth the price but less than half of it because half of the work has been done and some features have simply disappeared !!

AND Blizzard never announce this project, they even said, it would never happen because game is too old.
It could have been a great surprises but unfortunately, disappointed so Refunded.
I will follow the news, if Blizzard decides to fix the mess and add features, i will consider buy it again. Until then… it’s a no go.

Even fanmade have been better than this.

I’ve bought and kept Starcraft Remastered, the work is well done and worth the price. I enjoyed replaying this game. I have the feeling WC1 has been sloppy.

And the game is not developed in 64 Bit, well … it’s a non sense too as all machines now are 64 bit…
