World Of Warcraft on Linux

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to move away from Microsoft and start using Linux Mint. I’d like to ask if it’s legal and safe to install and play World of Warcraft on Linux. I’m concerned about the risk of getting my 20-year-old account flagged or banned, and I want to be sure before proceeding.

  1. As you can see in the system requirements only Windows and Mac are officially supported OS. Running WoW on Linux is not forbidden and you won’t get banned when doing so – but you won’t get any support from Blizzard if you’re running into problems while doing so.

Running WoW on Linux (through tools like Wine, Lutris, or Proton) is generally fine from a TOS standpoint, and plenty of players do it. Blizzard doesn’t officially support it though, so if anything goes wrong, you’d have to troubleshoot it yourself or with the community.
