can we have a proper “glass cannon” Staff high-rune runeword too?
What you did with Obsession is the easiest and most reliable way to approach staves, by giving it survivability+damage output bonuses more or less equal to those of a HOTO+Spirit, even higher in certain cases (no dex needed, no 156 str needed , high chance weaken proc). It will definitely be great to have it in the game.
By “Glass cannon” I mean something along the lines of “no +res/life/fhr, +X skills, +100% or so FCR (yes, triple digit), maaybe some MF (or not), maybe -% to fire/lightning/poison and +% to cold damage to compete with Deathweb/DFathom, Socketed Eschutas, etc”. Hell, can even call it “Frailty” and make it reduce your vitality by certain amount on top of everything (I’m sure you’ll come up with more original ideas), just make it really good at it’s intended “Glass cannon” role.
Also, imho, 2h Staff is the best candidate for such runeword theme.
Obsession is fine. in a good +3 to skill staff its already stronger than current meta. We dont need even more overpowered items

Lol it is not equal is vastly better and will do far superior damage! just find the right staff with +sorc sk + specific spell like Blizzard and you will be epic.

By no means I want “more overpowered items”. I want damage dedicated 2h Staff that gives up all the +health/resists/fhr/other survivability stats. And 2h Staff is an ideal candidate for that, since it takes both weapon slots and actually limits you in where else you can pick up those resistances/fhr/etc.
Get used to this. Have fun
You should understand how hard will be find right base to fit your chosen elemental.
I don’t understand. You know this runeword has life. fhr and res… right? RIGHT???
or are you trolling?
I’m not trolling, and that’s exactly what I’m saying here, yes. Give us a 2h staff that, unlike HOTO+Spirit shield, or unlike Obsession, focuses on raw damage output, at the cost of fhr/resist/life stats on it.
The only thing that does that is Eschuta’s and (in case of Lightning Sorc) Crescent Moon, and Eschutas honestly sucks. There’s 0 reason to give up tons of resists on HOTO for a very small boost Eschutas provide.
Death’s fathom is great, but still focuses on survivability alot (up to +40 LR/FR - coincidentally only resistances that matter)
I get your point. Yes that would be good if we did not have Hoto/Spirit.
well they could change +20% light to -20% light, would make it instantly the best weapon for sorcs. that would be the glass canon option then. the roll range is also very large
