[2.4] Removing synergies makes the midgame harder

In the recent Patch 2.4 notes, Blizzard announced that Lightning Fury would no longer be a synergy for other Amazon lightning skills, and Death Sentry would no longer be a synergy for other Assassin skills.

I get what they are trying to do - make it so that you can use say Charged Strike without having to invest too heavily into Lightning Fury. The problem is that, for Lightning Fury builds, the mid game gets significantly harder.

Previously, if you pumped skill points into Lightning Fury, the synergy would improve your other lightning skills. So, you could use Lightning Fury most of the time, and then switch to other skills when you needed to. Now, Lightning Fury no longer benefits those other skills. So, your Charged Strike etc is much weaker at this stage of the game.

Sure, at level 99, it all evens out. But before that, the game is harder.

And not everyone has the time or patience to get to level 99. Some of us just want to have fun in the midgame. Its the journey, not the destination that matters.

I know why you removed the synergies Blizzard, but I’d urge you to reconsider this one change. Instead of optimizing the game for those who DON’T use Lightning Fury or Death Sentry (which is a small number of people I think), optimize the game for EVERYONE (like how the synergies was before).

Other than that, great work on the 2.4 patch!

I use ‘‘Hybrid Lighting Java with Bow’’- 20 point in CS and 20 point in LF, rest 1 point in synergies. I only use CS/LF spending about 45/48 point in java. (In my case I will do much less damage in java, maybe I will have to make it hybrid with poisonous plague, it seems interesting). And 12 point in multiple arrows and guiade, rest in pasives

In a pure Java +60 point it’ll be buffed, but spending about 40/46 point, is a nerf.

My spec will be NERFED.

Thats simple:
Midgame 0 problems as poison javelin + lightning.

Use the skills in combinations

Good, midgame was snoozfest easy anyway.

Midgame is “extremely” easy. Most of the time I play through nightmare, my reaction is “what? oh, this is nm? lol didn’t notice”. Especially how they buff the early-mid sets, it will get even easier. At NM, you already have some kind of meta going for you at level 40-45, which for absolute majority of builds, is high teens lvl 24-30 skills. At NM, there are barely any immunes, making your single-spec trees work very well.

Sure, your mana consumption will probably suck, and your items are probably crap, but NM is where your meta carries you. All of that ends on hell.

There will literally be no change… They balanced out all the skills that lost synergies… Please read the patch notes and understand them… In many situations mid game is actually going to be stronger because you don’t need synergies from level 30 abilities anymore but still get the same power from their synergies earlier. Read and understand is all you need to do.

Seriously? Honestly what the hell are you talking about? Charged strike is strongest skill in the game. It is absolutly op in early and mid phase and they just made it even stronger.

Javazon has most easiest playthrough of all characters.

Clearly you didn’t understand my post.

The end game damage is the same, the road to get there is different.

In java tree, they’ll be a nerf.

This topic has been extensively discussed on the d2jsp forum. Would posting a link break any rules?

Clearly you did not understand the patch notes…

A little note. Generally, anyone using the Java specification should use CS+LF; I think they are the 2 best abilities in that talent tree. If you break the synergies between these two, you destroy a lot of hybrid builds. The OP I think is referring to this.
