I’ve been fairly patient till now but once I logged in earlier today only to be greeted by a waiting queue (position 287) and waiting for almost an hour before giving up and quitting the game, I am now at this point.
I decided I’m done. I mean, lol… :
“…it feels like somebody took my heart and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears. And at the same time, somebody else is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer. And then a third guy walks in and starts punching me in the grief bone, and I’m crying and nobody can hear me because I’m terribly, terribly, terribly alone.” -Michael Scott
I know this and many other posts will come across as dramatic to some, but it’s a culmination of too many disappointments. This is the final straw breaking the camel’s back. I have lost the little bit of hope I had for Blizzard as the distant memory of a once good company who can produce solid games. So this is me just giving a final rant on my keyboard before I quit the game and Blizzard once and for all.

This game is expensive. I think most of us bought it with such high hopes and dreams of Blizzard doing something good again, bringing back a little taste of the old glory! I mean Vic. Visions did such an AMAZING job with it (I love to look and feel of the game, when it’s actually working). But the experience as a whole is now starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

You are kind of forced to play online, especially after it was so hyped up by Blizzard pre-release. It’s a big part of the sell of the game too, I don’t need to list all of the reasons, they are obvious. This is not a free to play game (as per above) where you can’t really complain about it, it’s a AAA priced, expensive game! And for that price, I expect a polished product OR some form of compensation if it is NOT a polished product. I won’t waste hours and hours and just meekly say “oh well, servers are *****, guess I’ll just try again in a week!” Apparently too much to ask for.

This is one a lot of people don’t seem to get- As a working adult with limited windows of time to play the game, it is EXTREMELY frustrating and daunting to log in, excitedly, and be encountered with any one of the long list of issues the last two weeks (pick one). My favorite is the queue. So no, my life isn’t going to end and blah blah, but it’s really crappy and disappointing and not the feel good experience I wanted which is WHY I bought the game in the first place.

Terrible communication and only AFTER the fact. The silence was almost preferable to the generic, generated bot responses we receive. I completely get why people got upset and offended by this particularly because all of us bought a product- a pricey one! And as a customer, your experience of the product matters, especially in 2021 - your voice SHOULD matter. And the experience with Blizzard with D2R has been: “LOL don’t care, get rekt gg no refund you already paid and played ROFL!” So how does that make a customer feel? Bad. Does it make you want to buy anything from them again? No.

My final point with all of this rambling incoherently is this. I think it was just wishful thinking. That for once there is a light in the tunnel that is Blizzard over the last few years… Maybe I just really thought Blizzard had a shot left in them… - when I bought, installed and started playing D2R it was SOOO good! It took me back to 2001 for a brief moment, and that’s pretty special in my opinion, so for that I will thank Vicarious Visions. But the joy started turning to ash over the following 1- 2 weeks as the game issues started, the servers crashed and my windows to play the game started vanishing.
And now we are here. Where so many people want to be refunded…they won’t be though. Blizzard will reject them.
Blizzard will lose the last few old fans they have / had.
Apologies for this long rant, and don’t take it too seriously. I’m just so disappointed in what should have been a better experience for me and others, instead an expensive lesson.
I hope everyone else enjoys it!
