you can’t PM at blizz forums boomer ;p
Relax.! It is just forums! Why are you flaming others like this.
Adding an optional action bar doesnt hurt anybody. you can switch to legacy mode and thats it. there is no reason to prevent progression for other people.
And thats maybe a Diablo 2.5 and thats not because better diablo 2 is always better. its not the UI why we are playing Diablo 2. Really not. It was outdated since it was released and everyone knows this.
improve this game so everybody is satisfied.
Never underestimate the sheer power of being a selfish ass-hat.
Now, when I actually checked what the difference is I have to ask one question.
Are the skills from the action bar usable on key press (like in D3 on PC) or is it just quick access to skills but you still have to use left and right trigger (or whatever this is) only to activate it?
The controller action bar works like D3. One button press uses one skill. And you can map 12 buttons to skills. It’s awesome and the M+KB needs access to the same.
The 12 buttons you can map are the facias (A, B, X, Y), RT, RB and then all those 6 again “shifted” (i.e. pressed while holding down LT).
Thanks.
Well, I would definitely love to have UI like that then.
I played D2 when it came out and I really like the new version as well, but it would be nice if they would “modernise” this version a bit more. The two skills limit was annoying even back in 2000.
wouldn’t offend other people but some times it feels similar like that.
its a used on key-press-to-cast.
For example, for my sorc i’ve set town portal to Trigger+A, IceArmor to Trigger+X, static to Trigger+Y Frozorb to R-Trigger, Teleport to R-Button, Fireballs to B, Meteor to X and Y and A are empty because pressing A is pick/use and it sucks to hit in the air.
You should try the controller mode yourself to see HOW WONDERFULL it feels and plays. I’ll play almost never without it. Some for ARPGs with a decent controller mode (grimdawn etc.).
the downside is picking items as you cannot click some specific point.
So it’s okay for controllers to have action bars, but not mouse and keyboard? Mmmk
I am surprised … positively and doubly
Some of you restore my faith in another person. We can talk without verbal attacks on others.
And maybe the creators will notice that such an option (action bar) would come in handy.
I agree with the actionbar / keybinds idea. For example by Barbarian’s shouts (no target required) could be on separate keys, so I could then use LMB/RMB for action skills that NEED TARGETING.
I’m in for the action bar for mouse and keyboard as well. Just go for it!
If there would not be an option for gamepads to activate their skills by one button, noone would ask just for the nostalgia, but there is this option and so it would just be correct for all players to give all the same chance to click and activate.
This option could be optional in options^^.
I played the old diablos and i still enjoy d3 sometimes. Also I like PoE.
First thing in PoE after coming from D3 was to try to have same keybindings to have same feeling in both games. While there is or was a potion piano in PoE, what is not needed in D3, I tried to get same bindings in D2R. I don´t use F-keys, so my skills are at 1-9, the potions by spacebar q,w and e. R means standing or running switch, t means stand and fight.
It is not really same because still I activate my skill and then click right mouse, but with a little bit of getting used to it, it will work, but having direct activation keys for skills would make it more like players with gamepad in same game.
So I do not want something that is not yet in the game, I only want same chances for all.
The problems come when you realize how its actualy implemented.
the action bar is a new interface which hides the original one with the known 2 buttons.
The new action bar issues on every key press a CHANGE of the 2. mouse button, casts this skill and thats it. At least this is how it looks how it works for me.
Everytime i cast a different skill the 2nd mouse button skill changes as wel.
But i dont know how it works for pala auras. This behaviour would disable paladin’s aura on every skill cast. Didnt test that.
I hate controllers with my whole heart. Never understood why someone would handicap himself/herself with something like that especially in games where you have to aim, but I do get it that some people prefer that type of control input.
I think the only game I played with controller was LIMBO.
A DLC is not for everybody, you can stay in D2R just like is now. Making the Mephisto run (1 min) for ever.
I am with you on this, however I find the current way KB+M works in this game rather unplayable. I like builds that use a lot of skills (well more than 2) and having to switch each onto the mouse button then click mouse to use it is a joke, and I cannot deal with it. This makes the controller the best option. It’s actually fantastic, but it has a little trouble dealing with placed skills like Blizzard. However for now, it is vastly superior to the KB for me.
