Are Zod runes worth it

Ok so it makes an item indestructible but if you repair regularly as you will need to do with items without zod anyway what is the benefit apart from very very rare ethereal items any ethereals I’ve found haven’t been game breaking in terms of stats anyway, opinions welcome
thanks

zod are used in 2 ways
1 in BOTD runeword and 2 in making a ethereal item indestructible, most of the times is used either on a really good weapon (ethereal upped perfect ribcracker is an example or some obscene roll on a rare that is good for pvp) and in very rare cases some armors/helms (also mostly obscene rolls of pvp rares)

thanks Nukeblast only starting really just googled BOTD. wow it is something else, does it make the game super easy or is it still a challenge at all, would you one hit hell mobs with it, how many hours to get one lol, also any idea of drop rates of those kind of ethereals at all thanks bro

Breath of the dying along with runewords Grief, Death, Last Wish, Crescent Moon, Faith, Ice, are “end game” items. They are nice, but by no means necessary. If you are new than my suggestion is to start a ranged character that does not rely on gear so much, like the necromancer, sorceress, assasin or druid. GL.

on the droprate, it is random, so it could be today coud be never. I played D2 since launch and never had a zod rune drop, this is the only thing this game has not dropped me… i had a multitude of chams and i cubbed for zod, but never had a zod rune drop.

thanks Nuke have you played since 2000 man, wow, love the game and direct damage so will stick with barb for now, what is your current char build thanks

Like already mentioned, those endgame runewords are not necessary, but they do make killing easy. You will one-shot many mobs on p1 games. Still, at the beginning just aim for something realistic. I’ve had two Zod drops in 20 years and there are many really great runewords at lower cost. Oath, Grief to name a couple.

As far as the rares go - really hard to find one that’s worth the Zod. You’ll most probably stop picking them up waaaaay before something shows up.

thanks unnamed it seems to be a lot of work for diminishing returns

Zod is a myth

for barb i preffer either a full ik set with WW and max warcries for life and defense, with a act 2 mercenary with a insight runeword in a polearm, because WW is super mana intensive or a dual wield frenzy baba, a nice place you ca start is make a oath/crescent moon RW as they are cheap and pull their weight nicely. Hardcore characters prefer a 2 habded sword and a stormshield with maxblock and use concentration and berserk mainly. but on softcore you can have some fun with the occasional death.
also in hell at lvl 69+ you can shop at anya +3 to warcries 1 handed javelins/throwingknives/axes for the whoping +6 warcries buff.

I’ve never seen a Zod drop yet, but ive got plenty of Chams (then upped to Zod).

Ive got some godly eth rare weapons that are definitely worth a Zod too. 450 is max possible ED on a rare. Ive picked up a few over 400ED. Highest Ive found is 435 (too bad it was a throwing weapon lol). Ive found some nice 200+ED with Fools mod too (+max dmg based on lvl).

The value of Zod is a bit low right now due to people first rushing hoto, cta, enigma etc. but a Zod will go up in price later on when people are more rich. It’s the rarest rune and needed for 1 good runeword so it is def worth to trade it later on if you have no use for it.

Zod runes are trash. Even though it’s the rarest rune. It’s trash basically.

Yes you are right. A lot of stuff in Diablo should be improved, but i expect, that no one will care.
Zod rune should be the same worth like Ist or maximum Vex
