Server maintenance on a Sunday night? Good timing Blizz really great timing. Just as you arrive at your Diablo fight they shut down the server.

Maybe it was some really serious issue? Do you know any details? I imagine even Blizz doesn’t normally phone their employees on a Sunday unless there’s a real reason for it. After all, as you noticed yourself, it’s Sunday.
In case of scheduled maintenance, there is usually ample advanced warning. If there wasn’t, it points into the direction of serious unforseeable problems.
No, no details, just when I arrived at Diablo in the last act, the screen appeared that the server would be shut down for maintenance in 12 minutes. But because of that I didn’t have enough time to beat Diablo myself and of course had to do that last one again. Not a problem in itself, but how unfortunate to do this in a weekend. There were also no noticeable problems in the server at that moment…
A day later, on Monday (yesterday) there was another spontaneous maintenance on EU. Not on the hour but 8 or 12 mins past the hour. Strange timing.
As I wrote, you normally don’T do maintenance on the weekend.
No official word, but I suspect an emergency of some sort.
