Bug: doesn't working sorceress skill

Sorceress Cold Mastery skill stopped working as described: it does not penetrate the resist(break cold immune at rate 1/5) as stated in the description. At the same time, a paladin’s Conviction aura skill similar in effect pierces. It’s started occured after patches on previous week(before it’s worked as it should be penetrating cold resist at 1/5 rate in case of immune).

Cold Mastery will not work against monsters that are Immune to Cold. So even if you have Enemy Resistance -105%, they will still be Cold Immune and you will still be unable to damage them. So what’s the point of 100%+ you might ask? Well if they are NOT Cold Immune, it will lower their Cold Resistance down below 0% which essentially means they will take more damage. It’s just like when you have negative resistances in Nightmare/Hell difficulty.

AFAIK this was not the case a few days ago. I was killing cold immunes in cold plains with frozen orb. But I can confirm after the patch this stopped working. It is like how it was in LoD vanilla.

That was never wanted. Was a bug in D2R. Cold Mastery was never meant to break immunes.

I’m talking about the fact that with approximately the same descriptions in game for the two skills(cold mastery and conviction aura), they act in different ways, and this is wrong.

As i readed the description for cold mastery it should let you damage some low monsters in act 1 hell diff. Its not breaking cold immune but those few monsters you were able to hurt.

what is really wrong is your interest in this game and sneaky attempts to confuse others into thinking this game should be turned into a d3 clone

They need to fix infinity breaking light immunes reliably but not cold and fire. Lightning sucks. It’s boring.

Please, write without any blame/offence. I pointed that there are two skills in game with same description and different effects.

Nothing in D2 can break immunity exapt the conviction aura and lower resist curse from necromancer.
The coldmastery just decrease cold resits when it is not immune and it is quite powerfull.
Works like the -x enemy resistant from some items that can too not break immunities.

Light immunity has always broken easier with infinity than other immunities.

Grab a wand to break immunities in hell.

actually cold mastery does work against cold imunes up until hell

I checked MrLlamas video about this and it seems that when monsters have more than 100% resist they are considered “immune”. Enemies in hell have different immunities but also different % immunities. For example monsters in hell with cold immune have the highest % resist, sometimes 150-170%, there for impossible to break. Lightning immunes in hell have lower %, around 105-115. Thats why you can break lightning immunes with conviction and resist wands but not cold.

Cold Mastery probably got coded in the same way Conviction Aura and Lower Resist did in D2R and allowed Sorc to break through Immunity.
To put it simply this might not have been a “bug” but it was not how it worked in the original D2, meaning that they had to change it back.
Whether it was a coding error fixed with D2R or was intended to always be that way it will not be coming back.
If the game does not work exactly how the original D2 does, errors and all, then a load of people will complain.

It doesn’t work reliably except for lightning.
