So I just lost my top hc char in th nightmare chaos sanctuary*. It was a lvl 57 zealadin with decent gear, lots of resists and life etc. I got killed by an oblivion knight from lord de seis’ pack. It went so damn fast, I think I got cursed with “Iron Maiden”. I thought they had removed this curse from the game in 1.13. am I in the wrong or is Iron Maiden back?
*Yeah I know it’s kind of bullshit to still only be in nightmare, but unlike when I played d2 ten years ago I now have a real job and a family that takes time away from the grind.
Yes! Oblivion Knights can still use IM. Sorry on your char 
And I don’t think anyone will shame you on ‘only’ being in NM, I would say most of us has a job and a family

Daaamn, wish I had known that before… Well at least I got an Um from the Hellforge and remembered to stash it before moving on to dying in the Chaos Sanctuary.
So where do I risk running into these scary oblivion Knights? Chaos sanctuary in all difficulties and that last dungeon in act V, but only in NM and Hell, am I right?

I can imagine that I lost that char to some other curse that made me super weak, but I was cruising though chaos sanctuary before suddenly losing all life…
I’ve done Chaos sanct a few times on NM already, and I’m 100% sure that there’s IM there. Even on normal there’s IM. I almost lost my paladin there thanks to that lol.

Oblivion Knights do NOT cast IM, ever!
It got removed in 1.13
They cast Amplify Damage, Decrepify, Weaken, Lower Resist and Life Tap.
Source: Me kiting 2 Oblivion Knights for 10 minutes, getting cursed with all those mentioned and never IM.
Like other replies, you probably died to either Lower resist + fire breath or a bad case of Ampdamage + might/fana aura.
Also, on Hardcore I would always recommend staying in NM until level 80! Your level 57 is not slow or bad, it’s much closer to the recommended curve than you would think.

Lord de Seis pack can be pretty brutal if they gain increased speed or damage. Add amp damage to the mix and you die in no time.
1 mob from Lord de Seis pack can actually 1 shot my merc, and 2 shot most of my characters.
You don’t want to facetank this pack

no they dont, it was patched out ages ago because barb kept getting oneshot in old d2
