my (offline Game) character disappeared . and i cant create a new one(it says “failed to join game” as soon as create a char and start a new one. only pre expansion and hardcore offline mode works for me.
Always a good thing to create saves after mega milestones in games like this. I know that’s not what ya wanna hear right now but you may be hooped. I’d check the Saved Games folder and delve into your D2R folder from there. Anything there? If not…you may be out of luck.

For those of you having the same problem as me, this is how I was able to solve it:
On your PC navigate to C:\Users<user_name>\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected\ and remove SharedStashSoftCoreV2.d2i from the folder (back it up just in case for some other reason). And then start up your game. At this time I have not yet noticed a loss of any data.
It is very bizarre given that I have not even used the shared stash that this file would some how become corrupt. Hopefully this is helpful for those left to fend for themselves.

having similar problems after a power loss, 4 days ago.
ironic this possible problem not fixed after so many months, or even a simple warning somewhere “if playing offline make backups of this and that regularly” etc.
ian’s solution will probably cost me all saved in stash, saving those many many months… I can only play a few hours per day, not beaten game even once :d
btw, 4 days and still no answer to my ticket…
