Hi, I quit the game after dying twice and expect I can get my corpse (items) back on reentering the game, however, only 1 corpse is there with no item.
Looks like I lost all the items then?
It is a terrible bug.

Well one corpse should appear but you should have your items still. I would post this on the support forum instead though as it’s more likely to get noticed.
In the old Diablo 2 game, normally all the corpses (if not too many of them) would appear, otherwise, it is highly possible to lose all the items in the late game.
It looks like only my last corpse with no item appeared.
I play D2 a lot and you don’t have multiple corpses appearing on reentry to the game. Only one. You only have multiple corpses if you don’t quit the game. You can miss items though if you equip stuff in the slots, but then they just stay in the corpse or drop on the floor.
Then what happens if you die twice and then quit the game? You get an empty corpse?
In d2 it just pushes them into one corpse. In D2R it sounds like you’ve encountered a bug.
same thing happen to me but i died like 10x and then left went back and nothing on the body lost all my stuff
I think in D2 it keeps at most 16 corpse.

Right, the expected behavior is one body upon joining a new game session on a server. I clicked my body abs was over encumbered. It was a strength issue. I had just leveled and I added the points to equip my “stuff” from memory. I was a point or two shy. I made a little bit of space in inventory hoping everything would pop back on body that could due to any restrictions and if anything didn’t meet the requirements some could go to inventory. I actually got my spirit crystal sword and my 4 socket pally shield back… but that’s it. My weapon switch was gone and all the regular gear minus the shield and sword which popped into my inventory….nothing else came back, but the body disappeared. My dead mercs body was still there…but mine disappeared as though all gear were retrieved which is the expected resultant event if your stuff came back, else, a body should still be there.

This is succinct… and apparently is a long-standing bug/feature that I’ve personally never ran into in the 2 decades I’ve played the game. I’ve never read about it anywhere before abs apparently I was just as “lucky” as you to have only just now found this out. I think maybe we should humbly request that with the new game and ability to better render a line of code that contains “all bodies” inventory or a mailbox for returned gear unable to be picked up as a new feature since they have the ability to provide a fix or at least a workaround for this.
Blizzard will not under any circumstances replace anything ever whatsoever. El Diablo “ate” our stuff and they don’t mind the game keeping it….
Just remember this so you don’t lose your stuff when you have enigma with hoto and cta…
I’m pissed af at the moment but now at least I have an answer (not the one I was hoping for…). But at least I didn’t lose extremely valuable stuff… just my ability to procure more in an easy enough fashion….
I just had this happen to me, I had died and tried multiple times to get my corpse back. After dying 2-3 times, eventually I tried to get my merc and put some items i had in my bank on to increase survivability. Sure enough I died again, and again, and after death number 7-8 I had lossed my entire level and said screw it I’ll just get my corpse in the next game and left. Well, when I joined the new game my corpse was there, but didn’t have any of my items. Well, it was fun while it lasted guess im done playing D2R and might be contacting my bank lol
This just happened to me. Died like 5 time on Hell cow level - when I TP, it takes some time to appear the screen for me, but looks like my char is already on the place and the monsters can hit him (her, a sorc). But, lots of cows got around the only cow level TP, and i really couldnt do nothing, i died before i could do something, even trying to teleport on black screen. At a last try, equipped some nice MF gear to try to survive at least to teleport, but i couldnt. Quit the game, created another, and this second gear just disappeared. Couldnt got it back.
Just dropped a Sur rune yesterday, was really amazing, but im really disapointed now.
I was lucky.
It was first try in hell and the sand vipers quest. I made it to etage2 and was so silly to draw the elite to the exit, then I went to etage1 to have my belt filled with potions and came back, I was nearly in the same second one shot by the golden elite viper and the problem began.
Silly again forgot to have a town portal to etage1, so with a lot of sweat i came back to the stairs to etage2. I descend, saw my corpse, they saw me, you know what happens, one shot. I did this about 5 times but as clever and smart I was, I never took any other equipment so naked back, killed, it happened i got poor, no more gold meant no more merc. And at this point my summoned army was still weak and no match for the vipers to block them at least so long that i get my corpse.
I thought okay, gear is gone, damn so much grinding to get it and now just poof.
Naked as I was and also just killed again, I quit the game to menu. Clicked play and was so lucky, because my corpse and all I had was there. Poor but not naked, I learned from it.
Never take any equipment, if you got killed to get back to your corpse. Take time a lot to not get killed twice or 5 times. And have luck, you wil need it.
Yeah i belieave this has been around for ages.
If you die dont equip new stuff from your stash trying to run to your body. Coz if you die again and leave the game you will just get 1 body back.
