"Currency" drop system

Hey,
despite all its flaws i still like this game, and i’m looking forward to play on an actual ladder.
Nevertheless, the range of endgame content for farming xp (6k baalruns to 99 i heard :/), and the absence of other kind of ranking / endgame formal long term objective makes me wonder if i could hold on a full season grinding.
I’m definitely not a hardcore player (where the level ranking makes more sens imho), but a big part of Arpg -to me- is “currency” stacking (by currency i mean rare fixed items that can be used as points of reference for other more variable items) and trading - the difficulty you encounter for it in d2 being rough and frustrating - but exciting.
I’m not sure if lots of people would agree with me, but the idea of an alternate ladder based on currency drop (similar to soj selling to trigger the world event) could be a big motivation for people who would be more into grinding loot than Xp. The core principle being you sacrifice a preset item, lootable, valuable and tradable in game, to increment your ladder rank with nothing else in return.
I’m quite sure it was attempted in the history of d2 on some mod at some point, and i’m also aware of all the problems related to this mechanic with soj even on bnet serv during ladder.
However, if such a mechanic was to be implemented, farming season would make more sense to me. I’m curious to know what other current d2R players can think of such a weird idea, and if it would be even feasible…

It’s called jsp. You’re welcome.

You dont need to farm to 99 unless you are trying for the top spot on ladder. If you want your position on ladder to really matter, look into playing hardcore. Still gonna lose top spots to speedrunners, but your high level char will be more impressive.

You dont need crazy gear or a 90+ level character to clear the game, you farm it up because you want to.
