Current bnet patch error: A required DLL could not be found

A couple of minutes ago bnet asked for a restart. So I did and it cannot launch bnet. It asks me to download and reinstall bnet.
How?

UPDATE 3: FIXED
Thanks to MickeyETC below, his link for updating bnet fixed it.
https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/apps/battle.net/desktop

Update 2: Not fixed
Closed game, noting that a bnet patch needed installed again. Started up game again but get message
“Cannot launch battle.net: A required DLL could not be found. Please download and reinstall Battle.net.”

The bnet patch seems to keep breaking bnet.

Update 1: Fixed.
OK I found instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling here:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/129614
It did the trick and Bnet opens without error.

I had been playing D2R in a windows partition on an imac, exited the game, applied patch, then had to uninstall and reinstall bnet.

We have seen quite a few mentions of the DLL error since today and a reinstall is indeed the way to go.

Is this going to be fixed? I reinstalled bnet yesterday due to this issue. Shut my PC down last night and now I’m getting the .dll error again. I shouldn’t have to reinstall battle.net every day.

I reinstalled bnet yesterday due to this bug. Turned my computer off, and got the same error again today.

Thanks for getting in touch.
If you look at my update 1, you are right that reinstall did fix bnet. However, in update 2, the bnet patch was subsequently automatically applied and the dll error returned.

I’ve seen this error 3 times in the last 2 days, I don’t want to reinstall bnet every day…

Had the same issue. I simply went to the download page, downloaded the setup (Battle.net App – Blizzard Entertainment) and hit “install”. The installer recognized the installation and said “updating battle.net”. After the update completed I was able to start up without problems, all games and settings where in place. Restart was OK so I guess it has been fixed…

I’m seeing this as well; for the last 3 days, I’ve had to reinstall due to that error, and then it works until the machine is shut down. When it is rebooted, I have to remove & reinstall battle.net.exe again due to the dll error.

I updated battlenet and when trying to play D2R, it showed the error Authentication error, couldn’t connect. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app and now D2R says I haven’t played for 30 days and won’t connect… What should I do?

I am also having this error. Will try re-installing…

You can fix this by just running the battle.net setup .exe you download. No need to uninstall battle.net and redownload everything.

same issue happening to me, started on 3/15/22 and re-installing app is only a temp fix. Some claimed switching Battle.net to beta version is a workaround.

Same error here, reinstall works fine until reboot. Then error reappears…
