After reading through the posts in this forum and based on my own crash experiences with D2R, it is apparent that the game has problems with Nvidia cards/drivers. If you have a high-end Nvidia card with lots of VRAM, the game crashes; if you have an older Nvidia card, the system often completely freezes and you have to press the Reset button on your PC.
I’d like to hear a bluepost if this is being looked at and/or worked on.
RTX 3070ti here, i have some crashes since 2 days, before that it was running good (excepto the known stability issues).

Yep, D2R is very unstable since the last patch. I suspect the devs are removing the (beta) guard rails to increase performance; a little too early it seems.

I suspect a coding error (in D2R); might be an initialization and/or cleanup issue (pointers). I also noted heavy HD acitivity after closing the game which points to lots of temporary file cleanup going on. D2R for sure is an extremely resource-hungry game with lots of swapping going on, which inevitably leads to severe game crashes/PC freezes without proper guard rails.

i have a GTX 1660 Super. The game randomly crashes to desktop at the end of the loading screens, mostly at the end when the loading screen should change back to the map. Very rare i get a bluescreen in the same situation (2x BS since game launch, both after long gaming sessions 6h +), Driver_IRQ_Not_less_or_equal referring to the nvlddmkm.sys.
Other games (and Benchmarks) run stable without any crashes, my last bluescreen is about 6 years ago so this is…a bit new for me.
edit: before the question comes up, all drivers up to date, absolute no other errors, crashes or problems, no overclocking or overheating or anything like this.
I have a RTX 3070 newest Drivers. Not a single crash since Launch.
Beta ran pefectly fine for me. Encountered my first BSOD (since like 15 years or so) on Windows 10 after D2R launched, with a reference to the Nvidia system file nvlddmkm.sys. Did Internet research for nvlddmkm.sys-related errors and potential solutions/fixes. Did everything I found incl. a complete system check and maintenance. I reinstalled Bnet and D2R, I even uninstalled and downgraded the Nvidia driver before it got D2R support, I removed Geforce Experience/Shadowplay for potential overlay-related errors - nothing fixed the game freezing/crashes.
Since the crashes/freezes/disconnects appear on 5 years old 1,000 dollar budget PCs with standard harddrives as well as brand-new 4,000 dollar high-end PCs with SSD drives, a resource problem or defect hardware seem to be excluded. The reference to nvlddmkm.sys furthermore indicate issues particularly related to Nvidia cards and/or drivers while I see the ball in Blizzards park here, not Nvidia. It seems the game doesn’t run properly after all the guard rails of the beta were removed.
I own a Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 ti graphic card (with drivers updated!) and a Intel Core( TM) i9-9900K CPU processor(R) but i can’t launch the game. I got the message “failed to initialize graphic device”.
Is Nvidia RTX 2070 ti worse than Nvidia GTX 660 that is the minimum requiremente for the game? Checking in internet it seems me that my graphic card have better performances.

I do not have to launch the game from battle.net.
I checked the game .exe in my hard disk and launched it as administrator.
For me it worked fine.
I have a 3080 and D2R crashes literally every 2~ hours, sometimes sooner if I’m going a Baal run and the last 2 waves spawn. It’s ungodly annoying and almost unplayable.
There is something wrong with Nvidia cards. I have 4 PC and it only crash on nvidia card.
980Ti - crashesh every 2, 3 games when entering game (after load screen). Record I have 10 crashesh in a row -.- This GPU is stable and other games run without any problems or glitches (its not dying)
Radeon HD7850 - no crashesh at all
APU Ryzen 5 4500U - no crashesh at all
Integrated I5 8400 GPU - no crashesh at all
Windows 10 updated, drivers updated. No overlays (from nvidia, discord etc). Game files checked.
RTX3080 here, also getting random crashes into a slowed stuttering screen and then a freeze, all without any proper explanation in task manager logs. They tend to occur more often when multiple spell effects are on the screen at the same time.
I tried lowering graphics settings as well, but to no avail. More than once it happened at around the same spot in arcane sanctuary, while blasting away the ghosts.
Then again, it also occurs on random after a couple hours of gameplay. That, or a “cross-thread” error crashes it to desktop without stuttering effects.
Edit: also occurred after cleaning up any previous drivers with DDU. I have no overlays on either, like some suggest could be a culprit.
Edit2: Whoa! It’s using 7 gigs of VRAM after an hour of play, more than AC Valhalla on average.

Yep. Have an RTX 4090 and 32GB RAM. New PC build from last year.
Previously D2R worked fine on this build; now the game freezes / hangs my PC almost every single time.
3060 TI Nvidia card same issues. You know the crazy thing? D2 LOD 1.14d did not have these problems.
Heyho, i got the same issue. Using a 3070Ti with 3 Accounts, it crashing so often. The hole sesson is a mess.
