The owner of the official d2r subreddit is Permamaximum.
On that subreddit he has pinned the following message at the top:
With this message hes basicly trying to lure as many people into his discord as he can.
On this discord however, he is advertising a d2 item shop which he owns himself to try and earn some money on the side.
D2 item shops are illegal.
I’m wondering how blizzard is allowing this malpractice to continue, as there are many people joining that discord thinking it’s the official d2r owned by blizzard.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time on the discord in the voice chat and have noticed teams of people actively luring starter players into making purchases on the not-to-be-named item shop owned by Permamaximum.
Also the people are being shown the advantages of using 3rd party software in order to gain advantages in the game such as maphack.
They sweet talk the starter players by showing them a stream where they use the hack with no problem and prompt them to a different discord where said hacks can be downloaded from.
Please, is this really the diablo 2 we want now?
Or can something be done to fix this malicious situation.

Sadly some people seem to support this with the ‘no changes’ attitude. There are not many legit players left who play publicly. My first public trading approach was a scammer trying to steal my items for D2JsP resell purposes when the game initially started.
Just avoid these kind of people(maybe try ssf) and keep letting blizzard know that you are unhappy with the current state.
Everybody who wants this game already bought it and there is no subscription, they don’t really have to keep the game clean because they have all the money they can make with it.
They are calculating the costs of going after botters/RMT/hackers vs the losses of someone not buying Blizzard products in the future because of a bad experience. And Diablo 2 is not a flagship game, it’s a niche product.
That is literally what they do.

You are right. I heard that in WoW there month abonement for any user, and i honestly don’t understand why Blizzard don’t do the same this time with Diablo 2.
Ladder have a month, and its already dead…
Just need to ban bots immediately, add some runewords and maybe balance some skills every new ladder, but ask for abonement every user, and its game will be live.
Just a little clarification here. It is against the TOS, it is not against the law.
They can make it bannable, but is somewhat hard to enforce fairly considering the nature of D2 and without compromising the core game it has been for decades and not run the game to the ground economically. Remember it is not a subscription based game.
I am sure they’ll think of something along the line, perhaps an entirely different ladder.
If you want to save this game from the RMT then personal loot is the only option.
Everyone has their own loot dropping in their game only, you can still play with others but not trade, done. FFA loot doesn’t even make sense cause it will always be the guys doing either nothing but concentrating on drops while others kill or the guys fighting in melee range who get mostly everything. It’s not like this is fair competition.
Alternatively you can make it so that you can trade with people on your real id friends, but only after they have been mutual friends for about a month. But even with this there’s some exploiting potential, so I’m not sure. Not sure if a bunch of people from a jsp loser thread would just add each other preemptively shortly before a new season.
For the bots…just implement a captcha or some sort of codeword you need to type in like in the old amiga games…I know this sounds weird but it’s the only way. Takes a legit guy less than 5 sec, no problem.
Or just leave the game as the pile of trash it is now and make it available to the PD2 team asap.
i am with u on this pal…my suggestion is radical but simple…stay away from discord and all those selstyled clan führers…just play the game with a char that doesn´t nned monster equip to function like my selffound meteorb sorc.i am fed up with ingame trade and all those jsp discord nutters myself.dont hope for help from blizz…just play the game as is and have some fun…maybe u find a nice person who trades fair with you…and if not…stay selffound…gl to u in the future and dont kill yourself about this^^^^

Whats wrong with meteorb mickey?it works low eq and i dont have to buy overprized items from jsp cheaters.not the fastest killer i know but it works and i can play at my leisure.and i sincerely hope by going with the timesyou dont mean make a jsp account or buy on ebay
