I wanna know the problem for make this remastered version of Diablo 2 for Mac OS.
The original was also for Mac and this remastered is for all console and pc but not for Mac.
I want a Mac version or I can think that blizzard forgot the Mac OS users .
I can understand Owerwatch and other fps games for graphical issue but Diablo 2 not!!
It’s a 32-bit application issue as they said. MacOS doesn’t support 32-bit applications since Catalina. It has impacted several games already available for macOS only in 32-bits like Witcher 2 or Diablo 2/LOD classic even.
I don’t think they will take a challenge do rewrite a code to 64-bit, since didn’t do that even for Windows. Especially for small target group as macOS gamers.
So pity as I’m writing that as a macbook owner. Luckily, game runs on bootcamp. It doesn’t apply for M1 users of course.
Your theory is good but it makes a new question:
why do they rewrite the code also for all consoles?
Mac users are a lot now because apple us Arcade and App Store with a lot of games . I think that rewrite DII for 64 bit have the same difficult of console versions.
Good point. I have no idea about programmatic architecture of console versions, though. It might be no difficulties to runs 32-bit on them, but it’s just a guess.
